Interesting to see how this gets picked up in tomorrow’s papers, but my guess barely a mention in comparison to other British sports persons’ achievements. One of the country’s least celebrated greats and all from such humble beginnings.

Great to have a British champion and one that is breaking records.......Next up Michael Schumachers record......Well done Lewis....Great driver...

Talking of F1 have you seen the 2021 cars when the rules all change etc....They look pretty good.

He's certainly the fast vegan on the planet. Lol.
Hopefully he'll go further than Schumacher who you could argue bumped his way into a few championships and was number one at the teams he's been in. Whereas Lewis had to fight Rosberg and to some extent Bottas. Congratulations to Lewis and 5 times World Superbike Champion, Jonathan Rea. Another Brit doing rather well

Don't know much about F1 but he must be one of the best there's been going by the amount of times he's won it.

What people think of him as a person is normally based on media reports but his skills with a race car can't be denied. He has always had the will to win, regardless of the formula, the car, or his competitors. It is these skills that have got him a seat in one of the best cars but he has always had to race his team mates who have all been of a comparable standard, Alonso, Rosberg and even Bottas none of them bad drivers. He has taken championships when there were 5 ex World Champions racing, two of them in a top team. He has equalled and broke many long standing records and will more than likely break more.

IMO he is certainly the best out there at the moment and it could b argued that he is one of the best ever, well done Lewis but I suspect there is more to come

I've watch him since 2007. He's in the all time greatest f1 driver category for me. I love his aggressive style of driving, although he's altered it a little now that he's older. You could see this guy was special when in 2007 he almost won in his first season of F1 and then in 2008 in his second year he wins the championship.

With all the drivers aids these days I don't think he is anywhere near the greatest driver ever . Plus he comes across as such a nob . Put him in a F1 car from Sennas era with a manual H box and see if he could get anywhere near his lap times round Monaco . He'd probably break a nail the poor luv.

Hamilton even drove Sennas 1994 1200hp manual car with next to no downforce and said that he could n't even imagin trying to drive on or anywhere near the limit . There is your answer .

27.1 The driver must drive the car alone and unaided

So whty don't you drive a manual then? Formula 1 gave you the CambioCorsa, ABS, MSP, skyhook, etc but apart from the flappy paddle all are banned. I agree I would love to see them using a manual H shift but gearboxes will soonn be a thing of the past with electric vehicles

too much ego and image these days, wasn't Hamilton refused entry into the royal box at Wimbledon one year for turning up without a tie and jacket and just a flowery shirt, a real lack of respect for tradition in my opinion and just made himself look like a spoil brat:p

Well done to him but myself like many other just have never taken to him but you cant dispute his talent in 'todays' racing.

He just comes across disingenuous.

It might not be the type of car he is familiar with but I would lay money after a few laps, the odd spin here and there he would have got the hang of it and be on the pace. The basic inputs are the same and the feel doesn't change, once they get the feel for waht the car is doing then they can exploit the potential. They all do it, even the also rans in the current races, and they are all very good it's just the likes of Hamilton & Senna in his day just do it a bit better than the others
