LED Lighting

As we have been doing a lot of LED lighting installations at work lately we now have 'preferred partner' status with a very large LED Lighting wholesaler.
To the point where I have just ordered new lamps for our kitchen and the postage came to more than the cost of the lamps! :D

For a good deed for the day if anyone wants any LED lamps I will get them for you at the trade cost, which is effectively less than half the retail price. So if you need anything, just give me a shout.

Any orders over £100 and the postage is free.

Link? I have a house full of effing downlighters, and I spend way to much time climbing up and down a step ladder replacing LED bulbs - so a bulk purchase at a good price could be exactly what I need...

Search the interweb for what you want and let me know.

We use the big boys mainly Philips, Sylvania, Osram, GE etc.

Not a B&Q Dall light in sight.

The ones I got were Sylvania, 5w GU10's 6500k, Non dimmable 5 year guarantee (I think). £1.25 each!

Again, you can get cheap GU10's or you can get expensive GU10's.

Did you have anything specific in mind?

I’m amazed and confused at how many different options there are... how different is a 6500k light to a 2700k light... is that brightness or shade of light?

Very 6500k is what they call daylight, 5000k is cool white (the one that used to have a blue tinge), warm White is around 3000k (soft lighting).

As per Andrew above, I could do with some warm-white dimmable GU10 bulbs. Maybe a pack of 10 or so. If all good, I could then do with maybe 50 dimmable and 50 non-dimmable.

I’ve not tried LED bulbs for a while, as when I did a few years ago the light was too bright and not appropriate for my house. I’m hoping that technology has moved on and that the light is now softer.

@GeoffCapes Megaman also make good retrofit LED lamps

Did not realize Sylvana made retrofit lamps - are they their own or are they buying them in from the usual suspects and regarding them?

Been a lighting (not so) professional at OEM manufacturer level for the past 7 years let me know If you ever need any advice mate

I used to be the same Ewan, but the tech has moved on massively over the last few years.

What we install now is so much better than what we did 5 years ago. Ironically the lamps we have in the kitchen are just starting to go and discolour, hence me changing ours. Looking at them, they look rubbish compared to the current Philips range.

I used to use Megaman but their lamps, albeit good, are not the same size as standard lamps, and didn't fit all the fittings client had, hence we stopped using them.

Who do you work for?
