Leather Interior?

Yep, always know that. Infact, we were only discussing it today on another thread.

The rule of thumb when doing a part leather interior, it the leather bits are the ones you touch, so the centre of the seats, shifter and handbrake boots, and the door arms and the main insert, apart from that, its all pvc. I have the leather headlining option, and that is all leather.

The 3200 is ALL Leather, hence why they never made any money from them.

Was the 3200 not a profitable car for Maserati? I actually randomly pondered this today when admiring the effort that has gone into the cast alloy suspension components (I was removing the shock absorber!).... given the fairly bespoke nature of many of the parts and the need for the 3200 to be a success and spark the "rebirth" of the brand, I wondered whether perhaps profit wasn't a major factor for them. Would be interested to know if this is correct.

Conaero quoting from one of their publications of 2000, as the sales of the 3200 were far and above expectations, they expected to make a profit in 2001 and each year thereafter!

I would say that 90 of the early 4200's are leather it , certainly has a **** sight more than in the Gransport thats for sure , but then the 4200 is built more for comfort, and the Gransport is really the assetto corsa of the 3200's

one way of looking at it vinyl is lighter than leather

Yes, Loz, and to be fair, PVC takes the shapes much better than leather, and I would still not class the red leathered interior of my GS to be a shabby place to be.

Ok, so they may have made a profit for two years, and a loss for two-three! Overall sounds like they might not've made money on the 3200 per se, but then the development costs for the 4200 would be lower and the brand name had been revitalised.
