Leaky headlamp

So that's why the low screenwash light came on. Steady drip from the OS headlamp washer. Any suggestions? Pulling the washer cover away shows a rigid strut that appears to be activated by wash pressure and leaking from the 'seal'

As a wild guess could be caused by limescale build-up in rubber rings/gaskets from use of hard water… or brittle rubber. This could be inside the washer mechanism itself (part number 18 in the pic) or perhaps in the lines…

Or a loose line connection…

Note there appears to be two types of washing system for the Ghibli so would need to select your exact model for the diagram.

I had this issue on my previous Ghibli. My issue was either a seal had gone or the plastic had... probably after a frost (with not enough washer fluid concentration).

Options are limited Im afraid, it was about £1100 to supply and fit a replacement at the main dealer (part was about 500).

An alternative is to just blank it off but then you might have issues around MOT time.

That's the one that came up on my search so should be right.

I had the same problem on one of my Ghibli's. When I spoke to the MD parts department they said it was a known issue and sold a couple of the headlamp screen wash systems a week! Matt at SportsItalia did the job for me in the end.

By the looks of it, definitely a known issue:

The opportunities here appear to be to see if:
  1. there are the same washer mechanism parts available in a different brand without the Maserati tax?
  2. the mechanism can be serviced with new seals?
  3. this be done DIY (is it possible to access the part through the wheel arch, without bumper removal)?

No idea. MOT isn't until December so I have some time. Just a trifle irritating is all
