No one wants to buy one of those mate.. they cant even fit proper brake calipers!
Chepo sliding front brake calipers on a 50k car...total Sh*t!

That is the back judging by door shut lines.
No that was the front, JLR as always skanked on quality!
You cant really be expected to drive around in your super duper Jag with brake callipers looking like they came from a Vauxhall!
They know very well how to speak Brembo!

It is the back, but still you are right in that they should have decent callipers all round.
My problem is I love jags and have not found anything else in the market that I would rather have, a QP or Rapide would tick the box but would be too ”flash” for work.
I fear I will end up with another diesel, can’t beat the 40+ mpg even when driven hard.

Good choice that. I'm very happy with my XJL SuperSport. No problems with the brakes and they are very good and powerful. Pretty big brakes upfront with plenty of stopping power.

The E55K I had was heavier but had 6 pot fronts and 4 pot rears and were very good but I wouldn't say the Jag ones are better of course but certainly not noticeable worse.

When I was on Ho-Yin's Noble aroun Llandow a while back we were close to an XJR for a while and he was quicker on the straights and not much slower on the bends. Very impressive all round car.

Sod the mpg....fuel is cheaper now. Supercharged petrol V8 every time. It is a cracking car and this has 60bhp than my older SuperSport.

I do prefer the more staid looking SuperSport over the XJR for me though as mine looks like a 3.0 Diesel so a real sleeper but goes like stink. The XJR is a little bit more Evoque and RRS esque. Bit pimped but not too bad and still very nice. Of course some may prefer that.

They are lovely cars to drive and own and I love that powerplant. Power everywhere.

I wasn't knocking to brakes effectiveness.. This is where JLR falls down.. When you look though your new super alloy wheels on your 60k car you want to see some huge yellow 6 pot Brembo's!

I do agree they look a bit naff at the back. Fronts are OK and the system works well enough. When you bear in mind these are over £100k new it is a little off. Mine was £108k new and only £16.5k 2 years ago. I can't really argue with what it gives and offers for well under £20k. Someone else loss....my gain

Forgot to mention as well that many dealers/traders.bow don't prep cars for sale like they used to. For 3 reasons it seems.

It becomes a deal negotiation point so both sides agree a deal that works well both ways. Sometimes the customer might not want something done, are not bothered and might prefer a reduced price. If the work is done that doesn't become an option.

A cash flow relief so they don't spend day one but can spend just before delivery especially if they end up stocking it for months.

Lastly they could prep it once then stock for months then might need more or further work again come sale time. At least they if prepared just at point of sale customer will get exactly what they have agreed.

It does seem odd but does make a fair bit of sense for both sides.

I think JLR will still be around as they have a great brand and some great produxts wanted all around the world.

They will need to shrink down a bit, restructure, refinance and become more efficient I suspect. However not to different to many others at the moment.

So many car companies and other non-car companies have just grown and grown chasing more and more sales. Becoming bigger, less efficient and more unwieldy. Partially under pressure from govts with this desire for growth outlook.

I just think that was a bad move as it will always need a big correction at some point as is just not a sensible or sustainable model IMHO.

Growth is good, globalisation is good, greed is good.....is it? Is it really?

I am on my 6th XJ so know how lovely they are, I haven’t ruled out the petrol, but this is my daily work car and the diesel is not to be sniffed at, it’s quiet, efficient, effortless to drive and still has a
0-60 of 6secs.
The compromise if I can find one will be the supercharged V6 Supersport.

As for prepping the car after once it’s sold I here that a lot, but this is a 2 year old Jag, no buyer is going to want to refurbish their own wheels.
But even if you accept the process of prepping after sale, why include a close up of that wheel, it’s out me off the dealer not just the car.

The mpg on the XJL SuperSport is surprising better than any other car I have had in this area before. Better than QP, E55K and others with similar engine size and power.

I am sure on a run a while back I averaged just over 30mpg which I have never seen on any car like this. Also average on all driving is higher as well.

I am guessing the 3.0 SC will be better would be interested to how much better. It is still a cracking engine. However I read the differences weren't so much as the V6 block is the same size and weight as V8 pretty much. I heard this in comparison on the two engines in the F Type.

I don't think you can be too harsh on a dealer/selling showing the wheel damage worts and all. I would prefer that to hiding it. Nothing wrong with being open and honest. If they had done a cheap touch up you wouldn't have noticed and it wouldn't have been a full proper wheel refurb and likely chipped off in a short time. This way you can factor/cost in a full professional proper wheel refurb.

I guess we all can interpret things different ways.
