Morning all, any of you knowledgeable people on here know if there is any recourse for a repair which involved a new air compressor being fitted 2 years ago but the car has done just 6000 miles since fitting.
Cheers

I think you are going to struggle with that one, only recourse is direct to the manufacturer I guess. I take it, it was an aftermarket one?

Oh, that's got to hurt. I would ask Shiltech to take it up with Maserati, they have more leverage than the individual.

It would be a bit unfair to expect Shiltech to fund it IMHO.

I doubt the lack of mileage will be much impact on a air compressor warranty claim, I think you might struggle after 2 years regardless

1 year in and you might stand a smidget of hope, 2 years is a tall order!

HOWEVER, don't ask, don't get! Give Shiltech a call, you might be surprised.

It’s going to depend on the warranty on the part that could possibly be anything between 1 year and 5 years - Labour is unlikely to be covered either way .

I would fit the much cheaper after market pump, they seem to outlast the originals. I don't think you can put the blame on the fitting, its purely a case of bad luck.

That’s a bummer.

What is the actual problem- siezed up?

Probably only 12 months on the part.

But you really need to see what has actually failed on the compressor, if the refrigerant circuit filter dryer was not changed at the same time as the compressor and is completely saturated that could be the cause or not enough oil in the system could cause of the early failure.
There must be a reason for the failure, it’s worth speaking to a specialist in car AC.
