You do wonder if they should just put it back on the shelf for another five years? Impossible time to be launching such a car with brilliant, established competition.

Thanks for the clip, let’s hope they’re sensible and it’s sub £150k. Main thing is the car needs to be superb, it’s mixing in tried n tested company there.

I agree Richard but I think it will be £200k once options have been ticked, or it certainly will be at launch. I have seen an internal slide that shows the cars they are targeting and the volumes involved. They even have Mclaren in their sights so it will need to be incredible to mix it with those. There has been talk of matching supply with demand, except for a few dealer demos however if it struggles early on I would expect that approach to change and deals/incentives used to generate demand. Customers who had a deposit down were supposed to be in Italy this week for a preview.

Didn’t know the ‘stands were still there.

Anyone else noticed that Maserati’s Targa Florio victory was in the middle of WW2 just as the BEF was retreating to Dunkirk.

Admittedly the Italian army hadn’t got out of bed yet and it’d be a few more months before Mussolini decided to get shouty.

Maybe its just me and old age , but i thought it sounded like my lawn mower with the hole in the exhaust , not exactly crisp and raspy , more like a sore throat
A problem with all modern turbo engines to a degree. Some are better than others and in comparison to others out there I thought it was quite good.

Maserati did announce the MC20 was delayed due to EuroCovid.

It was back in March from memory and think the new date is September 20.

If it’s delayed further they will have to rename it to the MC 21 :)

Might they be deactivating cylinders at low revs?

The more this car is hyped up the less I am liking it.

I hoped foe a car that would be c £120ish, worth 50% in 4/5 years time. At this rate it will just be a poster car for the brand.

Will there ever be a sporty GT from the brand again or is it just SUVs from now on for the Masses?

Apparently there will. A direct GT (inc. Cabrio) replacement will follow, probably 2023 before it materialises.

Precisely, having to make reference to a victory during WWII is poor marketing.

+1. There is no way I could justify this sort of car. The way the world is going recent mid engined hyper cars are just getting socially unacceptable and judging by some of the posts on PH et al they are increasingly bought by shouty people looking to polish their egos. Anyway if you want a mid engined Ferrari you will buy a Ferrari and if you want showy value (strange concept) then a second hand bottom end McLaren or R8 appear to be great VFM.

What Maserati does best is GTs and saloons. Sure throw in some SUVs as Porsche has learnt but the MC20(+1) is as relevant to Maserati as the 8C was to Alfa Romeo.
