Just remove the front grill, and reach up to undo the nut on the back of the threaded screw you described above..
You will then need to use heat to soften the glued backing and a plastic credit card or something to "prise" the badge off...GENTLY ! :p

PS - be sensible with the heat( hair dryer or similar!?) ..the paint, lacquer and such . Not only can you scratch it, but it will tend to soften slightly too.the nose is plastic too remember. Dont be put off though. Its easy enough/...!
Cheers for that Tim...........But isn't there a black plastic shelf above the inside of the grill preventing you from getting to the back of the badge??

Try it cold with a plastic filler spreader. If not then drive it and leave it in the sun! Don’t melt your front end!

Oh - maybe ! Ive had the front off variously by now I forget exactly how far you have to go...!
I think if you can remove the trim insert fixings from around the mouth of the grill ( upper edge) the plastic you describe 9 its a "funnel" that directs air flow across the rads)- its so floppy, you can deflect it away and get your fingers/spanner o the nut

I did my pre-facelift nose badge which was a bit of a pig due to the retaining bolt rotating in the plastic badge when trying to undo the nut below. You can (carefully) open the old badge to hold it, but it's wise to tape around the badge first to avoid damaging the paint.

I got the red stripe ones too, how do you fit the quarter panel ones? Pull them off, clean off the glue and just stick the new ones on?
Before you remove the old ones apply a bit of masking at the end of each arrow and mark the tips. All you have to do then is line the new ones up. You can first clay around the badge if needs be.
