Keyless entry

There is a guy down the road with a top end Audi caught someone hanging around the car with some sort of gizmo, they never took the car but since then he has had a ridiculous full on steering lock fitted. Being able to deactivate keyless entry should be mandatory and simple ‘ east to find in menus etc.

Nope, sorry. I love keyless entry. Same as I love voice control and recognition.
and computers
and touch screens (although not in cars)
and the internet
And fuel injection
and variable valve timing
and turbo charging
and flappy paddle gear shifts ;)

EPB's OTOH. Work of Satan ;)

Don't take my argument too far, some technology is fine and works well but keyless isn't. Likewise smartphone connectivity to unlock doors. It's not necessary

Neither's any of the rest of it. Not trying to wind you up (honestly!)

Keyless works fine in my experience.
You're right though, it's not necessary but I like it. Sure, implement it properly (VAG we're looking at you and your pre-shared key fiasco, although that wasn't even keyless), and give users the option to bypass it!

You ain't lived until you've learned to double de-clutch!

Yes, it's technology for technology's sake. IMHO it's a solution looking for a problem, and when you look at the rise in keyless thefts it would seem to be more trouble than it's worth.
But think about your poor thumbs! Just consider how many presses of a button you have saved in having another system to go wrong.

I remember the s4 I bought had a gearstick lock bolted to the tunnel. It was fitted from new apparently. Had to put the car in reverse then you put a very thick and heavy hardened steel U clamp around it and into the lock. Used it very rarely. Normally if parked around Essex or Manchester ;) wait for it........

For me it’s not that I don’t like keyless, I do, but if it’s not secure it should be easy to deactivate.

Oh agreed. Remember squashballs and central locking. Or remote relay code grabbing....

I have! And clutchless shifts on sequential boxes. It's great fun.

Just not when I'm driving to the office

Just find the right amount of revs, back off the throttle a little, and snick up the next gear with your left foot.
Worked a treat on my carburettored ZX6R J2.
Loved that bike. Sold it to my nephew on his return from Afghanistan.

Can you recommend a decent faraday case?

Oh and simple to test. Just pop the key in it and try to use the keyless entry ;)

FWIW we have a keybox we've had pretty much since we were married that's been moved from house to house. It's made of metal and currently fixed to the wall in one of the cupboards. No idea if it works against booster attacks, but we're comfortable.
