Key Worker Defintion

So as I understand it working in an IT service, support, Internet, Comms business we are still regarded as Key Workers?

We are being asked to conduct some physical onsite works so need to understand if we should be able to if desired be able to provide this for customers. Any ideas?

If so should we be looking to be PPE protecting ourselves and others or just adhering to social distancing guidelines as a minimum?

We need to decide if we will furlough some staff/contractors including myself today really so need to be clear what we can and cannot offer to provide to customers at this time.

So much to think about and decide!

Unless your IT staff are going to be licking the site staff any PPE would be wasted.

Just use the same precautions you would at home... ie wash hands etc.

I agree just follow current social distancing and hygiene rules ( issue your own to your staff (off the net) and follow any that each site have implemented.

The key worker definition is interesting as on the face of it Mercedes McLaren would not be obvious key workers, but without them and others like them the ventilators and such like won’t get manufactured.

And given that the only thing keeping the country ticking over is broadband access - I would definitely say such work is key.

If you Furlough your staff and yourself, none of you will be able to do any work at all.

Thanks both. Very helpful. We will have two sub contractors who are able to work full time and potentially a 3rd incoming. Means I can take at least 3 weeks off

Same here. Funnily enough, people who were sent home last week”non key” are coming back as now they are. More desk moving and tape measuring. The corridor to the toilets and cooking facilities and printing room is 800 mm wide!!!!! Seeing how we drink tea and print all day it’s a nightmare.

I work for a dental implants company and we have refashioned our portfolio to include PPE.

I am therefore a key worker as I help to ensure front line clinicians are supplied with the PPE they deserve. The people delivering it are key workers, the people receiving and signing off on it are key workers! You get the gist

That has to be photoshop , if the girl on the right was that thin she'd be dead , and the one on the left would fall over

Dean, there isn't a big list of what you should do. This is our list on site so not rocket science.

Letter saying you are key worker.
Carry anticeptic gell
Ensure the site you are going to has gell in key areas to use.
2 metre rule is happening.
Use the gell everytime you open a door or touch equipment or wear those surgical thin gloves when touching stuff on site. (The ones wore for having finger up your rear)
I know some who go home and strip off at the door and get in the shower but not something I've done yet unless Liz has got a bit fruity in the day that is.

It's really is all you need to do. You could take all your clothes off before you get in the car and have an wipe down with a wet lettuce but that may get some weird looks.

I'm considered a key worker but with reduced flights it's looking less likely but we still have scheduled maintenance to perform, in fact I'm bringing it forward as it's so quiet. Less disruption when normality returns.
