Key fob battery change

Can't see that condensation would be an issue. The current key is not watertight anyway, so you'd get condensation inside. I guess metal may be more prone, but probably only on the metal parts.

How about a milled perspex key, like billet?

A quick search shows that CF can shield radio signals... :(

and you may well also have induction issues housing the transponder chip in conductive metal... :(

Love the concept chaps! Think CF would be easier to fabricate once metal moulds are manufactured & if there are enough on here to place a sensible order I'm sure it would be possible to convince a CF manufacture to make the moulds FOC & charge sensible numbers for each unit as they'd be able to reuse for a multitude of cars!

There's plenty of options googling Custom Carbon Fibre but one of the first I found that look good for small applications was http://www.c6carbon.com/gallery

I opened the key very carefully and along with the key circuit was this unremarkable piece of plastic, I thought it was just a spacer but couldn't see where it was supposed to go right away so left it out.

I think its supposed to be glued in place looks like there adhesive remnants on it.. I shall glue it in place ASAP.

Normally these things are attached to the board aren't they? :)
Balls!!

now almost certain the transponder fell out after first battery change. Before I moved house, twice ago. FFS

Bit of a bolt from the blue. Assume this is your spare key?

Well...........................
the 3200 has been parked for < some years > and is now getting ready for MOT. one regular key stopped working and is now "lost". The brand new key was never successfully coded to the car and is temporarily lost (in a box somewhere).
The other main black key no longer transponds with car - and is clearly missing the crucial "black bit". This key is not operating central locking despite new batteries.
That leaves red key that does work intermittently (might work better now obelisk is secure).

Wow - thanks! Will make a trip into the big town Saturday. Knew that can copy physical keys but the transponder is news.
I would call first. They have a tablet or a chart that tells them if it is possible. You could also call Nick at the Remote Fob Centre 07932433929. He will likely be cheaper depending on what you need. Timpsons cost me 112 for 2. It is 70ish for one but the alfas are just keys, no pcb or buttons.

They will likely need a transponder to copy.....

I have one transponder (majority intact despite sprinkling of dust inside the key).
FYI - the red key is FRAGILE so check inside after dropping on floor. In my case the key only turned out the code one in five operations. Now the transponder is stuck in correct location it has 100% hit rate. Guess the little widget has to be right in the orifice to function.
