Hmm, neither the Jaaaag nor the Continental will open their fuel covers keylessly, unless the car is already unlocked.

C

Yes, but then they aren’t connected to a fuel pump when you walk out of the house. Like I say, very first world problem!

LOL....it is all subjective of course. I'm not a fan though.

Petrol Ped had a red one that just made me think.....why does it exist?

We don't seem to suffer from an excess of pings/beeps, so either we have it set correctly, or we're driving it within it's and our own sensible and legal limits!!
and not too many lanes, white lines etc in rural Dorset!

so the door locks with the charge cable plugged in?

I’ll run you through the process.

Leave the house put your hand in the door handle and the doors unlock.
Forget about the cable, get in the car and press the start button for not quite long enough. Ignition comes on, put it in gear. Get a warning about the cable being plugged in.
Swear at your own stupidity, put it in park, get out of the car and try to pull out the cable.
The cable is still locked into the car, so swear at your own stupidity and fish the key out of your pocket and unlock.
Remove the cable, replace cover 1, then try to close cover 2, trapping the retaining strap for cover 1.
Using your third hand, rearrange cover 1 to allow cover 2 to close, while holding the cable (you can store the cable first to avoid the use of a third limb)
Get back in car, press the start button for a period slightly shorter period than required and ignition come on.
Put it in gear, car doesn’t move.
Swear a bit more, put it back in park.
Press start button to turn off ignition
Press start bottom for slightly longer period and display says engine starting.
Put it in gear and drive off.

Now I’ve written it, it doesn’t seem so bad :p

I was just wondering if the cable locks in place, still beats putting petrol in the diesel, twice, from the same pump.

surprisingly I’ve not seen anyone driving down the road with a cable attached yet.

With my Outlander you can't drive off with it still attached as it won't let you and tells you. Good feature I guess

The other way of doing it:
Walk up to the car and unlock it with the key fob. At the same time, use the fob to open the boot.
Disconnect the charging cable and put it in the boot (or out of the way in the storage bin under the boot floor carpet).
Get in the car and press the start button for about the same amount of time as you would for starting, say, a GranSport. (But without the faff of having to use the key AND the start button, as on a Gran Sport)
Then drive.

Not so hard, once you know how. And even easier most days, as it only needs charging once a week. So for most journeys you don't even need to get the car key fob out of your picket. Just walk up to car, get in, press start, and go.

Glad to help. ;)

I sounds like a good plan. By the time it goes back I will have figured it all out :p

Scoff. That sounds dull. Where's the intellectual work-out? Your brain will turn to pulp, Ewan.
