takes me back to when waiting for top 40 to come on radio and recording on a blank cassette tape all the tunes i liked, still got a load of cassette tapes from many moons ago somewhere in the house or outbuildings, quite fancy digging them out and playing them if i can find a cassette player
I remember one Sunday evening putting mother in charge of pressing pause for the DJs and play/rec for the songs. Went to listen the next day and all I heard was 2 hours of DJs. Not fool proof apparently.....

… certainly beats what's in the Strad.
DSP/soundstage helps - that and a near silent cabin.
Right up until the point you pressed play - nice choice

Crikey I had a range of stuff! Blaupunkt, Philips, Pioneer, Kicker and Alpine from memory.
Never liked Alpine, preferred Kenwood, but this '89 Sony was probably my favourite at the time:

81845

With the disk changer it was a fab. system for the day.
Loved this ad. later on....

I was forced on a 130 mile mercy mission today, which means I got to use the E-Tron for its first proper journey (having bought it just before the start of lock-down). At a quick guess, I think the fuel cost was about £2, using night time electricity from the Octopus Go account.
In the Strad, this journey would have had a fuel cost of maybe £35 or so. But it would have sounded better!

I saw a Taycan for the first time yesterday. I was surprised how small and low it was, which bodes well as it means you can make an EV that doesn’t look like an SUV.

We've got an etron at work, how do you turn off that bleeding 'theme' tune music as you get in. It's a washing machine not a blockbuster movie...

Isn't it about 5m long? Even longer than a GTS if so.

I read a review of the eTron which said that it's biggest failing is all the fancy features that serve only to ping, beep and annoy.

Ewan, have you learned to turn all that stuff off?

The Taycan is about the same height as a 911. But it is longer, being a 4 seat 4 door car, not just a 2+2 seat 2 door like the 911. So, overall, bigger than a 911, but smaller than a Panamera.

I've not yet looked into that, nor tried. But I'm not very tech savvy, so it would be sort of thing I'd call the dealer about.

We don't seem to suffer from an excess of pings/beeps, so either we have it set correctly, or we're driving it within it's and our own sensible and legal limits!!

I'm talking about the 'entrance music' as I get in it. It's akin to Windows 95! I wonder if Audi got Eno to compose it.

Hi Martin,

I did reply to this, but in a separate post. The short answer is no, I've not looked at turning off the entrance music. I think it's there to let you know you've started the car (as unlike with an ICE, there is no engine noise).

I'm not so keen on this model. Nice from the front (same as mine), but I'm not a fan of the slopping back (and the consequentially smaller boot). Hence we plumped for the normal E-Tron in place of the Sportback.
Does the Sportback share a body with the Urus? The back passenger headroom in Uruses (Urii? Urethra?) is bloody useless for anyone over about 5'9"

Sorry must have missed that, our eGolf does not have entrance music but when we first got it there was confusion as to whether it was on or not.... (Cue GeoffCapes).

I have a Audi E-tron (my phone wants to correct that to trim) as a stopgap and I am finding it slightly annoying in a lot of first world ways. You have to press the start button for ever so slightly longer than you think to get it to be in “ready to go” mode. Otherwise it just switches on the ignition and won’t bloody move.

Then there are two covers for the charge connector. One under the other, for reasons I can’t fathom.

Finally, what’s the point in keyless entry when it doesn’t unlock the charge connector.

But at least there isn’t entry music and it reminds you when you have left your phone in the car.

I am sure I can hear a violin playing somewhere! :D

Hmm, neither the Jaaaag nor the Continental will open their fuel covers keylessly, unless the car is already unlocked.

Sorry guys, but most Audi's style wise look absolute sh*te, the person who drew the E tron thing should never be allowed to hold a pencil ever again!
