JAGUAR XJL SUPERSPORT 5.0 V8 SUPERCHARGED FOR SALE

When I sold my Jag X-type on eBay a few years ago, I first had some scuffed paint on the bumpers touched up to make it look better. The first buyer (who turned out to be a dealer) rejected the car, saying, "It's been resprayed, so it might have been in an accident or there might be something dodgy underneath". Not doing that again.
Yes, tough one to gauge. It is why some dealers never prep their cars until a sale is done I guess but if you don't do some prep it can impact the sale for some. I can see it from both sides. I guess you never know what you did is right or wrong until you find out. I could have done two tyres and two alloy refurbs but made sense to get all 4 done and nice decent matched tyres.

I’d take the traders offer and move on. As Ewan says above. Recession, Christmas and fuel bills. You’ll end up less in a few months.

I wish this conversation wasn't so active, I have to keep looking at the advert which is very tempting; especially now the ULEZ expansion has been confirmed so will be looking to replace my 4200 at some stage!

If you still have the car at the end of the week I may have to drop you a line privately to arrange a viewing...

I see in the advert you mention the water pump being replaced. Any idea when that was? During your ownership so in the last 4 years at any rate I presume?

Yup, all agreed. Might sit on it to the spring if it doesn't meet an agreeable price. Won't cost anything for that 3 months other than a new MOT.
I admire your patience to get the best deal, I hate selling cars and when I do, I take the best offer I get and move on.

Make sure you continue to use it if keeping through the winter. Complex electronics sitting around in the cold and damp for several months is o_O

How many previous owners does the car have ?

If not too many, then I'll take it for £13k (assuming the dealer declines to buy it). Best of luck with what you decide to do.

I'll give you £100 for the tiger. It's the best offer you are going to get before 17.54..

LOL. I know what you mean. I've bought and sold a fair few cars over the years. Not having Elon Musk's bank account though means I'll always try to work as hard as I can to get the best return. Another £1k means a lot to me so worth a little bit of extra work.

The E43 but has not been one of the smoothest buys so far!

It's OK as tucked up in a dehumidified dry garage so will be fine in there.

I've already had an offer of £14k from a dealer but not accepted yet. Just waiting for them to come back to me to see if they can improve the offer to my agreed price.

If I don't sell it by Xmas I'll just keep it in the garage until spring and give it another go then.

Just had a other new offer tonight from the eBay ad for £14k so will go back to them the same as the dealer to see if they can increase it to the sell price I had set.

Are you clearing out mummy's garage and are you the artist formally known as Prince?

Yours certainly looks like great value, hold your nerve and GLWS

LOL....not that I'm aware of. Shame she didn't get the Supercharged version. It isn't as though she needed to worry about the fuel bills!

Seems to be getting a fair bit of interest now which normally means it is there or thereabouts in the right ballpark.

Sold and collected this morning. Lovely chap on the forum and hope the car looks after him and his wallet but gives many smiles/miles.

Well done. You did the right thing and hold on and it didn’t take long.

Agreed Andy. Very fair deal for both sides and a great car for not a lot of money. I had other offers as well and could have sold it twice for what it sold for. So as you say the waiting to achieve the right price was correct.

I could have sold for more but I'm not greedy and was happy to sell it to the person who bought it at the agreed price. You get a bit of a gut feel to do the right thing or when a deal is right. I knew the E43 purchase felt a little off and I'm paying the price for that currently working through some issue.

If I didn’t do 20k miles a year I would have been tempted. It looked lovely.
