Mini's just aren't "mini" anymore. I think this needs rebadging as a "Maxi".

Hideous things!

I have always refused to call them Minis, they have always been BMW Maxis to me. I am also amazed how they can keep coming up with even uglier niche models every year, the original 2 BMW Maxi is fine but from then on they go downhill - IMO

We had an R53 Cooper S was great and the right size. Since then they have got lardier and dafter every single year with the likes of the 5 dr and countryman etc... BMW in an Ugly frock.

Had the r53 and r56 and this latest one is much much better. I agree about some of them being larger than they could be but my one is perfect for my needs and I really like it. All this rose tinted "it's not a Mini" thing though, you all really need to get over that. It's been nearly 20 years since they launched the new brand and the new world is really quite a nice place to live. The original Mini was great, they are awesome fun but would you want to be hit by a self-driving car in one of those?

Couldn't agree more, the first gen ones were ok, but the latest are just Hideous with that horrible rear.

It has a Bluetooth activated valve which comes with a wee button thingy that turns it into a boy racer car. Amusingly it has a disclaimer saying “track use only” which I guess means they’ve never heard a Maserati with Larinis. It’s fun and I activate it all the time as it brings out my inner child.

Ah, but have you mentioned the the Bluetooth button is exactly the same size and shape as a Mini vibrator?

I was given a Clubman recently as a courtesy car and they told me how much fun it would be to drive. They were either used to driving combine harvesters , smoking crack cocaine or out and out lying. I can’t beleive how ugly it was. I quite like the look of your new one though - I can imagine it’s a fun daily. I am getting the 140i next week with a few M performance bits and the racing LED wheel etc- I was really suprised and impressed by the drive and the deals they are willing to do on them.

Drove behind one today thought it was you but an FM18 *** Plate.

Just re read this. I had to put the number plate of our courtesy car into a parking meter in Edinburgh yesterday and something seemed familiar..

I think the Challenge looks fabulous, and with the little bit of extra power it must be great fun to drive...

I also drove past a 1499 GT yesterday and thought it looked great, but hadn’t realised that was just body styling.

You can spec a John Cooper Works pack that gives the more aggressive look on a Coopers or an S, which gives the look.
The 5 door I temporarily have has 190ish hp and is plenty quick for a daily, the extra in Athol's is probably the icing on the cake (perhaps more so combined with the smaller car presumably being lighter)

We test drove a 5 door Cooper (around 135hp) just to see what it was like, and, well, it seemed to more or less just come down to power. Dare I say it, the Cooper felt better to drive, but both my wife and I put that down to the test drive cooper being a manual, and our loan car being a 7 speed dual clutch auto thing that neither of us really get!

Ah, finally a car that the Evoque is more attractive than!

Watch it! :p

Serisouly though, I love the Evoque, its a brilliant, brilliant car and not broken at all in the first year of ownership. I am now a JLR fan...Maserati, please note.

The looks are subjective but not offensive (in black). I think I will go for the Velar next but 2 years to wait on the current lease.

I am with you Matt. I think the Evoque and Velar are great looking cars. My wife and daughter have moaned at me ever since I traded it in
