I will give the above suggestions a go, thanks guys!

Another quick question. The guy I bought it off said when starting the car, I should turn to ignition, wait 5 seconds, and then start the car.

I always found that a bit strange, but have gone with it.

Is this the right thing to do, I just start the car In one turn motion?

Key on, wait five seconds, pump the pedal a few times then turn the key to start. Thank me later

As said above.
You don't HAVE to do it, but the car drives smoother if you do.
If you just start it up without the wait, the MC-shift gearbox tends to be very jerky at low speeds and manoeuvring. I assume the clutch re-learns the bite point during the wait.

I press the brake and the accelerator alternately until the self test lights go out. I think the wait is the key part of this, but it gives you something to do while you are waiting.

This almost certainly a battery issue.
The cold weather compounds a battery on its way out.
We have had great success in quickly and cheaply resolving these issues with fitting a correct new battery and putting the gearbox into relearn mode.

Thanks for the info mate.

How do I put the gear box in to relearn mode?

Yes! In fact, just wait for all the warning lights to go out, then start the engine. If you don't do that the car will jerk about like a frenzied onanist.

Thanks for the responses guys, judging by the majority, it would seem to be the battery.

Do I require a new one? Or, is the way to 'boost it up so to speak?
Also, when changing/charging the battery, can I do this myself, or does it need/is it best to go to a proffesional?

hi mate.
The first control module to suffer from a tired battery is the parking brake module.
Disconnect the battery and allow the car to completely shut itself down (around 30 mins)
And lay on a battery charger and leave till fully charged.
Reconnect the battery and carry out the relearn cycle.

Another thing to monitor is the boot for dampness. Common leaks are boot seals and also the sealing around the rear lights just take everything out the boot and check for any signs of mould or dampness.
If you get stuck drop me a pm and il call to talk you through it.

You do it via the factory Diagnosi system. If you want to pop in we will do it FOC for you.

That's really, really kind of you. Thank you :)

Where are you based? I presume down South? Apologies if not.

If I'm ever around your neck of the woods, I'd love to take you up on the offer. Again, thanks!
