Is this the first fault on my QPV?

I agree to a point when the parts are mass produced and shared with several vehicles from the FCA family but for the low volume produced parts they will always be more expensive.
Example BMW Mercedes Benz bolt in hub wheel bearings £50 to £60 but loads of them on the roads a QPV not so many.

I do see your point Phil but still think they take the p1ss....I get the mass produced bit but a wheel bearing at £50 for BMW etc and one at £600 more as it's not mass produced is just printing money.

I’ve had 2 cars where irregular rear tyrewear, the sawtoothing mentioned earlier, makes a noise just like a wheel bearing at the rear. So much so that garages have replaced wheel bearings only for the noise to be still there. That’s not fun. Not saying yours isn’t a bearing but do all you can to rule out tyres first.

I don’t think I have ever seen the bearing fail. It’s always the crappy abs sensor that breaks and means throwing away a perfectly good bearing.

I had one needing replacement because of the sensor, but another I replaced because it was REALLY noisy.
