Is this a Gibli Cup?

Dear Maserati Forum,

Greetings from Switzerland.

I have a mega-intricate question about a Ghibli Cup I'm looking into, and I hope for the collected wisdom assembled here to enlighten me...

Is this an actual Cup?--

It looks legit to me but for one thing. It's missing the plaque with the engraved number on it under the stereo.

But--

The Cup register on Enrico's website includes a Nero Siderale Cup in Austria, which is where this one is based, and the blurry photo of the interior seems to show no plaque either.

And finally, a Greek person who owns a yellow Cup from new seems to say on his blog that when his car was delivered the plaque wasn't actually screwed into place but came loose.

So perhaps the first owner of this one elected not to screw the plaque to the console, and the car is indeed a Cup?

Many thanks for your thoughts...

It looks like a Cup from the photos, everything visible is correct.

I can confirm the plaque was not screwed into place and does indeed come loose.

Certainly appears to be a Cup - what’s shown in the pictures looks correct. But to be sure, just contact the Maserati factory with the chassis number and they will confirm.

It’s being offered in an odd package deal for 110,000 Euros

that's a nice looking machine, not an expert on these but best of luck with it, always worth doing some proper checks on special limited edition motors as there can be cars out there that aren't what they appear to be

Thanks so much, everyone!

The seller has since gotten back to me. He says a previous owner kept the plaque as a souvenir. He also gave me the VIN, which matches the Austrian Cup on Enrico's website. It does sound legit.

It's true I would have to get in touch with Maserati regardless. Do you have a contact there?

I noticed the package deal. It looks like a spontaneous fire sale. But that's hardly a combo with wide appeal. So strange.

That does look very nice. No offence to anyone with regular Ghibli of this vintage, but the Cup seems like a whole separate model to me. In the metal they look so purposeful and dramatic.

That does look good - just contact Maserati customer care to be sure, you can reach them at info@maserati.com

So... I spoke to the seller, and he's willing to part with the Cup without the Karif and the Alfa in tow. His price is 60k EUR minimum, which alas is beyond my current means. Even so, it's a pretty good price, considering that a Cup in similar condition is on offer in Italy for 85k...
