Is there anyone who reconditions 4200 torque tubes in Australia? Mine is starting to wear but don’t plan to replace it until the clutch needs doing. I’ve a spare of a low k’s car and am thinking It might make sense to recondition it before it needs to be fitted.

What's the problem with it as both my 4200 did over a 100,000 miles trouble free ?

Ok, that’s good to hear - I didn’t pay a lot for the spare which has has done 31,000k. The one on the car 70,000k and I’m not yet sure what the problem is; but it rattles around 2500 rpm and mechanic is saying torque tube. I’m just looking ahead and thinking replacing bearings a checking runout might be worthwhile before making the switch.

It could also be one of the front catalytic converters. I blew one at a track day at Goulburn and the rattle was also thought to be the torque tube bearings until closer diagnosis. Good excuse to get Larini front pipes with sports cats. Huge improvement, should have been that way from the factory.

Thanks Bruce - I prefer your diagnosis as I have been thinking about adding Larini Sports Cats.
