Is that a Trident I see before me?

Yes I must admit that I’d much prefer the option not to have the exhaust valves open on a cold start - I also get anxious about the neighbours if I’m setting off early.

If it’s a reasonable hour, I always wait for it to come off the choke a bit, and for the valves to close, before I set off - that helps with the temperamental low speed hesitancy.

I hope Mrs. C enjoys it - I’m sure she’ll find the experience most agreeable(!) :)

Of course the vacuum closes the valves so they do leak down. They take rather longer than the GT to close as well. Turbos, of course. It must be a deliberate choice as you can get valves that are sucked open. Mostly though, I'm in favour ;). I cannot wait to do cold start in the office underground car park next week :D To say nothing of the lift (although that will be a tight squeeze.

@CatmanV2
Chris get the ZF box serviced with a full ZF kit the sump is the filter.
Makes a World of difference done my Jaguar and the Porsche this Summer.

72k? You think so? Don't forget it's not the 6HP. I know those were 'lifetime' but lots of people found it better to service them.

Mrs C's Giulietta is in for a major and some 'remedial body work' while we're away. the Ghibli isn't due for another 400 days but I'll have a word with Feli while I'm there since the MOT is due in December

Cheers

I certainly do Chris the oil will be filthy mate.
Get your man to drop a little onto a clean white piece of cloth and you will see unless you have proof it was done in the service history.

Yes, the cold start in a multi-storey is extremely entertaining, especially when Sport mode is engaged before you fire her up …

Another entertaining trick is an up shift at 5000 revs, in Sport, under hard acceleration when the engine is at proper temperature - if you get it right, there’s a very satisfying pop. There’s a bridge over the start of the motorway near where I live, and the challenge is to time the pop for just as I get under the bridge! Very childish, but I love it!

So noted!

It does rather feel like that. Odd innit?

It has its quirks though. It's not very happy doing low speed stuff form cold. The brakes are a bit on the binary side and the ZF is grumpy until it's warmed up. And the exhaust note is somewhat 'assertive' until things is past the cold start enrichment ;) (Neighbours have already approved. I wonder if they'll feel the same at 0550 on Monday....)

Mrs C is going for her first ride in it tonight, as we have dinner with pals. I might leave it in ICE mode.

I'm off to work at 01.00 tomorrow morning, bring it round here and I'll let my neighbours give it the thumbs up or thumbs down... :D

Congratulations though - I still fancy a Ghibli as a daily ;)

Well I have to say, I'm enjoying this. It's not happy when cold. It needs spanking in 'normal' mode. The brakes are still binary around town. The steering chatters horribly at full lock.

But by god launch it off in sport, keep the revs in the silly zone, on the paddles and it's a Mafia hooligan and loves every minute. I've never been so tempted to learn how to drift.....

...and it really does sound OK. I had an AMG Merc next to me at a roundabout in Peterborough and somehow I managed to get it in manual and ran out of revs. Couldn't work out WTF was going on but still sounded lovely. Not Strad lovely but lovely :)

@CatmanV2 what tyres are on the car and could they be aged ?

It has the tyres. The tyres of hate. Remind me how I tell the age (and you're not helping, you know... I can tell where this is going) ;)

I'd be thinking about swapping them out for something all season, but the sizes are not available. Given they haven't actually tried to kill me thus far, I'm more likely just to wear them out naturally.

On the side wall you will see the week number and year in four digits like 2016.

PS4S are pretty much all-season, Chris. Very good whatever you throw at them.

As I have previously said, for me, this car strikes the perfect balance between the GS and GT - I love its quirks, and it’s a real Jekyll and Hyde. Shhhhhh - don’t tell anybody! …

OK I'll shut up. That's a really good way of putting it. Sort of Mafia enforcer. All sweetness and light until it carves your face with a razor.

Just had it properly cleaned, decontaminated and corrected. The paint is bloody hard. No idea how the PO's managed to get so many swirls.

I am reliably informed the wax will protect it through the winter (which it will be driven through!)
