Is that a Trident I see before me?

Congrats indeed. It looked good in the ad, but it looks better outside your house :). Rather impressed that you have rear seats and they are heated. They sound rather useful.

One point of order though, going the full Spoons also includes calling everyone within a 200 mile radius a ****. So don’t do that :p

Looking forward to your running reports and the use it will be getting for work and pleasure with the long distance road trips and transporting family members too.
Quite a variety of cars you have had too now :)

Why yes. Yes it is.
As some of you have surmised (and a couple of you know) I bought a new car on Sunday. Well new to me. The latest Jaaaag has started to show signs of its advanced years, and presenting the possibility of some heft bills which really didn't seem like a great idea. (No reflection on Mr Capes. It was only ever a stop gap) just a shame I can't sell it on the open market (with good conscience) or rely on it ATM

I could have bought another one, but was a bit sick of diesel. Could have bought an XF-R but then getting into unknown territory. Needed four doors (ageing mother and wheelchair). So that pointed me towards a Ghibli. Back at the diesel end, sadly. Went to see one and it just did nothing for me. Wasn't a good example but not for me.

Soooooo, I've gone full Spoons. Private purchase of a Cat N car with no PPI. One life, live it, right?

Ghibli S in Blu Passione, black leather and carbon trim. 71k on it. Just had the Valeting guys give it a once over. It's come up better than I would have thought :) Interior is pretty immaculate. Paint needs a day's worth of machine polish and some of the glass needs some attention (odd how that happens) but other wise it's rather spiffing I think.

Seems to have most of the options (rear heated seats, alcantara(?) head lining, sunshade, space saver spare etc. Hoping to get a build sheet from Maserati but irritatingly I can't use the app as it's already registered to a different email address.

20" wheels I'm not sure about. Makes the ride rather direct, and I'm not a huge fan of the look. Plus they need re-furbing and are machine polished. Seriously considering swapping them (and the P-Zeros) for some 18s or 19s.

So thanks to all for advice, opinion, guidance and offers of coffee. I was grinning in 2 minutes flat :)

Nice colour, spec and, oh, engine. How are you coping with the comedy sized key?

Very nice, and having had a couple of Ghibli's both with very different spec, your looks great. Stick with the 20" wheels as anything smaller look a bit daft on a big car like that.

Many congrats, and welcome back to Trident ownership! There’s no escape - once these cars get under your skin, that’s it!

You’ll love that car more and more every day - the Ghibli S is fantastic …

It does rather feel like that. Odd innit?

It has its quirks though. It's not very happy doing low speed stuff form cold. The brakes are a bit on the binary side and the ZF is grumpy until it's warmed up. And the exhaust note is somewhat 'assertive' until things is past the cold start enrichment ;) (Neighbours have already approved. I wonder if they'll feel the same at 0550 on Monday....)

Mrs C is going for her first ride in it tonight, as we have dinner with pals. I might leave it in ICE mode.

Yes I must admit that I’d much prefer the option not to have the exhaust valves open on a cold start - I also get anxious about the neighbours if I’m setting off early.

If it’s a reasonable hour, I always wait for it to come off the choke a bit, and for the valves to close, before I set off - that helps with the temperamental low speed hesitancy.

I hope Mrs. C enjoys it - I’m sure she’ll find the experience most agreeable(!) :)
