Interstate freight recommendations

I'm looking to move a GS from Melb to Brisbane. Given the diaspora of us Mexicans into the sunshine state, some freight operators are taking this opportunity to gouge on prices.

Thus far CEVA logistics have quoted almost 2k for covered transport with 110mm ground clearance, although I believe the GS sits factory at only 100mm.

Another provided a quote for 880 depot to depot, but said if I couldn't fit an upright coke can under the car, they'd probably damage it in transit. So they can take their coke can and do the proverbial Jennifer keyte with it.

So at this stage, as much as I don't want to put a sudden 2k on the clock, and petrol, wear and tear, time, risk and hotels aside....it looks like I may have to drive it north. Still, a late summer's drive along the Pacific in the Spyder.... there's probably worse outcomes that might befall me.

If anyone has used and can recommend a freight operator to move cars up or down East coast, please let me know.

I bought my 4200 from Mackay. Flew up from Melb, looked at the car bought it and drove it back to Melb. Did take out RACV roadside though. Great trip.

Roadtrip everytime for me especially after my experiences of using professionals to get my 4200 from the UK to NZ a few years ago.

Never raced or rallied, dropped once……
The shippers one a Cockney and the other a Paddy don't have a clue hence why I had to drive my own car in.
I then had arrange for a Recovery company I knew to help me get it in.
The joke is on their glossy brochure they are putting a Lamborghini into a container.

It looks like they tried to drive it up a ramp a la Italian Job and forgot the gap. I bet you were happy that day.
When I realised they were going to damage my clutch I drove it up there as they told me the ramps were industry approved and perfectly safe.
So I stayed in the car waiting for the recovery truck which went under the back wheels and I drove in.
Thankfully I took their insurance and working for the only Dealer in NZ I came out of it okay.

So part of the ramp collapsed underneath you as you drove up?

I had a great experience with NMT Shipping - MEL-PER on a 2010 QP. less than half the price of CEVA etc. I am in the industry and the rates are at a historic high on coastal shipping & interstate transport so bear that in mind, Cheers

Alternatively hire a trailer and tow it there yourself.
If that's not possible, enjoy putting the k's on your car.
PS congratulations on escaping Danistan!

Thats insane...!
Id be screaming abuse, and someone would be getting fired !!
:battered:
Trust me they got a bit of abuse on the day.
When the car was in NZ at the only Dealership and my place of work they got a nice estimate ;) which they paid straight into my account :)

Now it all makes sense... knowing the circumstances as to how you came to own it in the first place, you're probably the only person in history to be paid (net) to buy a 4200

It certainly turned out to be good for me buying it as a project car cheaply and then running it for 4 years in NZ and then selling it for a nice return there.
