Interesting take on Ferrari ownership

I bet they run for the hills when they see him pull up on the forecourt.
They used to do that to me being a Jeans and Tee shirt bloke with long hair.
They had only spoken with me on the phone and collected my 360 from home so hadn't seen me in person.
They were happy to take my money for a 6 grand bill though.

I think he’s got a point. Why shouldn’t he expect to receive a decent quality car? I’d forgive some of the trim issues but the drive experience of a Ferrari should be excellent.

Mr Leno's not too impressed either:

Heaven help us if this whining cheap-skate buys a Maserati!

I suspect that with 21 Masers to your credit you're being a little facetious Ewan, although I've never understood the Maserati bashing that is seen on forums. My one Maserati gripe is the lack of UK dealer support which is derisory, although we do at least have decent indie support in the UK.

If I was paying over £100k for a warranted dealership car I'd bl00dy well expect reliability and be right royally miffed if I didn't get it, and when you're relegated in the new car queue for not speccing loads of options I don't think I'd bother even if I had the money (though the SF90 would be awfully tempting).

I was contemplating another purchase, but luckily for me the GMA T50 book is now closed so I don't have to scrape up £3m or so......

Jayemm gave his 430 Scuderia back to Dick Lovett cos they couldn’t fix the knocking from the suspension so it seems to becoming a problem for Ferrari.

Wasn’t that incredible……madness they couldn’t get their head around the problem. You would have thought given the public nature of the car and problem they would have moved heaven and earth to quickly and discreetly fix it. It’s back up for sale with them so one would assume it’s now ok.

I’ve watched a few of his other videos on cars. He has one complaining about Porsche dealers and how hard it is to secure an allocation for the rarer models such as GT3s. I wouldn’t say he’s a cheapskate, he’s certainly spent a fair bit on Astons, Porsches and Range Rovers.

When I originally bought my Maser, it was serviced by HR Owen in Park Royal whilst they had a joint Ferrari and Maserati operation. I found the service then was second to none and you were allowed to develop a relationship with the Service Manager and the lead technician. I got a regular discount and lots of complementary car attention which wasn’t charged for, such as changing light bulbs or the odd wheel bolt.

They then split the operation into a dedicated Ferrari and a dedicated Maserati operation and it gradually went downhill from there. Since then I switched to Joe Macari who I found to have that excellent service mentality. I’ve also used Autofficina for work where we’ve used non OEM parts such as alternators. I love Autofficina because Peter and Elias, the owners, have a real passion which they tune into if their customers feel the same. Peter in particular, who has done engineering advisory work for the industry, loves it when you talk about the cars and will spend time with you, collaborating on how to care for the car in a quality and cost effective manner.

So like the chap from the video, I did expect more and was glad to say that I got it, albeit not sustained from HR Owen. Perhaps it’s just the cold hard business models that he’s encountered or a combination of your own personality and what that brings out on others. Undoubtedly, a bit of both, I suspect.

I'm glad I like to tinker lol. Rarely ever take a car to a dealer, but I'll be a totally different buyer to him or those that do.

What a boring video... did he not check the car out for fit and finish before he bought it, or even drive it?!?

We have all been there with cars and some are better than others. What surprised me is how many other videos he has made, largely dealing with mundane stuff. I thought technology was meant to make our lives easier but so many people just use it to fill their time with needless things to do and that's just those watching these things....anyway it's far quicker adding the odd post to a motoring forum to waste your time ;)

think he has a lot of fair and valid points there, if you're spending that sort of money why should you take view on such things, i wouldn't be at all happy with the issues he raised especially the wheel wobble, dealer saying faulty tyre and then saying the new tyre was also faulty and still not sorted, suspect more to it than than simply tyre

I didn't know he'd made a load of other videos let alone mundane ones, how did you find that out? ;)

LOL. Quite why watching someone else's skiing holiday is entertainment is beyond me. Still it beats the old game of sitting in Pizza Hut looking at a load of photos of people getting ****** in C&A ski gear. So technology does save time!

He is a bit of a moaner and as others said trying out cars we've all been there before in one way or another but didn't go to the extent of making videos.

The age old message for me is that some of those cars are expensive and while they may not worth the admittedly rich prices when new and used as dailies, may be more worthy as heavily discounted second hand weekend drives.

Please forgive the intrusion, but given your experience of pizza parlours:

Do you enjoy female company?
Do you have royal connections?
Do you ever sweat?
Is 'Bob' your real name?

Just wondered.......
I used to sweat a lot in the cheap ski gear of my youth but after I got the sponsorship deal with Lynx I was able to upgrade to more expensive ski wear and buy a trendy Alpine chalet. I had some unexpected large bills recently so this has all had to go. Pizza parlour wise, choices are now driven by whatever Groupon vouchers my daughters let me have.
