I think it all depends on a variety of factors e.g. postcode, mileage etc.

I’m the same age as you OP, albeit with 13 years no claims, and a 4.2 (or 4.7!) is going to cost me around £600/annum.

Age 47, QP 4.7, 8000 miles, sdp&commute plus business, me and mrs, garaged, 10yrs protected, Aviva plus cover, £404 total for monthly payments.

Admiral multicar renewal came through at £729, up from £650 last year. One quick and painless phone call later and we landed at £550. The only material change is that my car is worth less this year than last year, otherwise it's all down to a bit of goodwill. I'll concede, the value of my car has dropped a touch more than the cost of my insurance, but it's still a cashflow saving if not a value of assets (hah!) saving.
