Noticed your engine had the same peeling textured paintwork as my v8 inspection covers - if that is what they are? Really does get hot at the top!

Artex Maserati was the long lost half brother of Massimo - known throughout Italy for his rough but gently appealing cr*p detailing!

Mary Maserati loved droopy boots but I can't find any for her? Anyone know where I can get eight for a Spyder?

Cr@p joke. Apologies! Can't find any on vehicle wiring site - or is it just simply age related confusionism - or maybe just the simple buzz of having a 2300 that is a complete buzz to drive right now. Old age makes you delerious when a Masarati just does what it is supposed to do - with or without boots. At least, that's what she said...

I got these nice right angled ones some years ago from Vehicle wiring products and I think they sold me the sold for dismantling the connectors too, its quite a fiddly process and the inserts take a bit of persuasion to remove but you get the hand of it just as you finish the job :)

Thanks Davy
It took a while to locate them but for anyone else who wants new 90 degree boots for their injector plugs on the 2300 I found them at:

www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk
Product number 192152
Description: Angled Boot For 2 Pole Female Connector
Pack Size: 10 pack for £9.54

They only come in black but if anyone finds some in red I will swap you! Will post some pictures when done.

Also found some in the US but a bit more expensive and the injection connectors are black:

Update: Ignore the blue shrink, this is just a prototype for a prolongued boot/sleeving heat test. Davy's solution is more elegant [see previous post].

Okay. Final prototypes pic attached. Can’t get the pins out of the old red plugs even with a special tool. May have to use new black plugs and rewire the lot back to the rails. No half measures. Any suggestions?

I can’t get new red plugs for the Bosch injectors. Anyone know where I can get them? It would look better. If not black will do and the whole thing will at last be waterproof.

removing the contacts is a seriously fiddly job and requires a certain technique even with the right tools. See if you can get an old connector or two from a scrappy maybe to practice on. I managed to reuse the existing contacts on all of my connectors, but the whole job was a bit of a pain.

Hi Dave,

Just what I am doing; but its like learning to pick a lock. Not one success so far! Trawled the internet looking for solutions but I can make nothing work. I have a set of pin demounting 'tools' - and even got desperate enough to make my own very late last night - but nothing works for me. Going to try and buy some red plugs with tails today and solder them in to the existing one by one - testing it as I go, just as my old dad wold have done! Only problem is I can't find red plugs with tails anywhere at the moment. The black I have will do - but I don't do 'will do'. Matt did warn me...

Jesus what a job!

Found some Ferrari red brake caliper paint that may do the job - spray paint the black plugs to match spec colour - will try and post the results after a soak heat test. Feels like giving in but should look right and perform well. Can't be any worse than the mess they are all in now - far from waterproof and the first thing you see when you lift the hood are bare wires and shreddy boots!

Couldn't you just carefully cut through the new boot underneath, slide it on , a little super glue.. no one would ever know!

I done mine using a paper clip to release them took about an hour once you get one terminal out you get the touch for it.

can be tricky, you do need to have a knack for it and almost need 2 pairs of hands. make sure the tool is correctly pressing/pushing the lock tab FULLY down and gently pull, some terminals you need to use from bock side of plug and some from the front end depending on type of terminal/plug
