I’ve got oil pressure and spark and it turns over nicely for a highish compression engine but the one thing I’ve not got is coolant as it’s not arrived yet. So twiddling my thumbs now.

Mate when I worked for an engine reconditioning firm we always ran engines up on water first and through the heat cycles.
Then drained them and put coolant in.

Thanks, if it doesn’t turn up while I’m at work tomorrow I’ll do that.

It’s a bit tappety. So we’ll see tomorrow now the cams run in if it’s all ok once I’ve set them hot.

Paint on the headers has all flaked off. The cap on the rad decided to spray coolant everywhere even though it’s a non relief. I’ve bent the tabs over a bit more and seems ok but will try and fine a better one.

Leak from one of the water pump bolts so need to sort that somehow. Wonder if it’s a common thing on these

Leaking bolt was the bloke on the tools. The other bolts are blind holes but the one that’s leaking goes into the water jacket. Should have used some thread sealer.
