Is that a Kawasaki triple?
The SBC 400 has siamesed cylinders and the block and heads have steam holes drilled to help cooling. Many builders over here add them to 350's to make them run a little cooler on middle cylinders. One of the reasons Webers make more power is tuning for each cylinder, with a single carby, you have to set the mixture for the hottest running cylinders (rich) and give up some hp.

These two piece rear seals give me the willies, I’m going to be worrying about whether it’ll leak for the next couple of months.
A bit late now but are there not kits to convert the block to a one piece rear seal like post '86 blocks?

This block has an extra hole in between the centre bores to try and even the cooling out. Think it was standard on later Bow Tie blocks

Yep Kwak H1. Sold it last year.

I’m reckoning that autocross is a bit different in the States then.

nice rocker arms

Kinda but they’re getting round a problem that shouldn’t exist.

Look at a 1930s Chevy six and it’s got bushes rocker arms that pivot on a shaft. When they designed the small block V8 in the 1950s they went to a stud pressed into the head with a ball the rocker moved on. Proper shite.

So roller rockers to sort friction and the stud girdle to keep it in place, studs are at least screwed into the head on mine.

That's shaping up as a really pretty build. Proper. Like others I'm waiting on the start up soundtrack
