That’s the third of the garage that doesn’t contain the rest of the Corvette.

Once I pop it on the chassis and get the front end on I’ll be back to being able to move around again.
I cant believe you were able to get enough access to spray the epoxy at it from there ....

Thanks for the offer of the puller Newton. I’ve got it off. Must have done something to loosen it as it just slid off with the new puller

Pedals, steering column mount, servo and master cylinder all fitted, then trial fitted the body to the chassis. Needed to do this for a couple of reasons; I’d had to repair one of the body mounts and didn’t want to guess/measure where the hole needed to be and I need to work out where to remove the floor so I can mount the seats directly to the chassis and lower them.

Body on

69090

And off again

69092

And floor cut

69091

Driver’s side tomorrow also need to get a longer drill bit to split pin the rear trailing arm shims as you can’t get to both sides of the mounts so need to drill all the way through.

Fair play mate you're putting some hours into this project after all the hours on the 3200.
Can't wait to get a project on the go when we get into our own house.

It’s nice when you’ve got your own place to work in, it’s taken us a few years since moving to build the garage, shed sand get the garden in some sort of order. The previous owners did a lot to the house but pretty much ignored the rest. Finally after three years I’ve just got the front hedge to look like a hedge, it had two trees growing in it when we moved in.

What’s happening with your move, is it just on hold until the lockdown ends or have you got a date?

We were supposed to have moved on the 27/3 but the lockdown measures put a stop to it.
As soon as we're free to move we will be over by there and get on with the work before we lose the Summer hopefully.

What are the winters like in Laval?

If you wanted to know what the internals of a recirculating ball steering box look like here you go

69142

Need to get a new ball joint for the relay rod as it’s worn oval, hopefully that’ll finish off the steering.

Steering box reassembled with new bushes, seals and balls

69471

New ball joint in the steering relay rod

69472

Cylinder heads painted

69473

Only got as far as painting the gearbox tailhousing and helicoiling some threads as I can’t find a 19mm drill bit anywhere so couldn’t put a drain plug in the box. So no gearbox rebuild this weekend.

69474
69475

But the body is back on the chassis though and bolted down.

Next time I get the urge to do a Corvette, I'm just going to send it and a bag of money to you and let you work the magic.:urock:

Steering box and linkage all on earlier in the week.
69650

Spent most of the evening searching for a circlip from the gearbox side cover that shot across the garage so little done. Insert appropriate swear words and kick the dog. But did manage to get the drain plug tapped and installed in the gearbox and the casings cleaned

69651
69652

Gearbox rebuild tomorrow but I’m on call so we’ll see how that goes.

Side cover reassembled with new seal and selectors. Tailshaft bearing and seal in.
69690
69691
69692

Mainshaft disassembled
69693

And rain stops play, some how I’d missed how battered the 3/4 synchro hub was. So need to get a new one.

Looking great, these things respond well to bump steer mods. and several companies make them. Is that legal in your class?

Kind of not but I reckon I can get away with it after I’ve submitted photos for the FIA log book.
