congrats and very nice, I like the interior colour very much and looking good

old work friend has a TVR and planning on driving round EU later this year, covid permitting. Sounds like he is really looking forward. They have a great sound and are the English muscle cars.

oh and welcome to the forum, lot of good people on here always willing to help, but subject threads will change - so be prepared :)
Not so much English anymore, in my stable they'reZdjęcia 580.jpg more like brothers

Definitely one of the most annoying jobs I've done on the cars. And it meant to be a simple oil change . Not much left from the old filter .

that is one mo-fo of a job so well done for cracking it at home.
Suspect all of the g'box oil filter are the new pattern. As I recall the new item has the o-ring very close to the outer face. The Original item showed o-ring almost halfway along. One filter was in two parts which was the original part I suspect. The two parts separate easily, hence the bottom half often left inside gearbox. For reference the garage used a big tap wrench (thread cutter) to pull the dead part out.

I did managed a couple of hours on the car.
Gear linkage cleaned and lubed. Gear changes still feel like they're done a few meters away but are precise and smooth. I also wanted to adjust the hand brake so went to adjust the shoes first and discovered that on one side the friction material separated from the shoe and wedged under meaning new shoes on order. Fortunately the cable adjuster is accessible and spinning freely with plenty of adjustment available so no surprises here.IMG_20210330_163802.jpgIMG_20210330_165039.jpgIMG_20210330_172657.jpg

Surely this shoe failure doesn't just happen to Mas? I had never heard of it until joining the club. Obviously failures due to lack of maintenance but not full delamination.

Is it the case that the handbrake shoe failure is due to parking up post wash when shoes are wet and they then seize? The driving off later then shears the pad from the back plate. It happened to me about eight years ago and I have never parked up with wet brakes again; to date the problem hasn’t reoccurred.

But when you think how many cars have had and still have shoes including manuals that you really have to use the handbrake why is not more common? I have lost count how many cars I have had both private and company and never had an issue. Weird.

Is there a guide to changing the gearbox oil on a manual 4200, or any helpful tips?
It's pretty straight forward but here you go

New brake shoes arrived, I couldn't wait to fit them. I also took some time clean from any rust and spray the drum part of the discs with heat paint .

Another job done, pollen filter old and new. Also cleaned the space where the filter is placed plus I decided to polish and spray with clear coat the cover as it was not in the best state.
