Lucky it was just the car. Will be prosecuted now maybe? That was some speed coming past the incoming line of traffic out of control. There is a place for launch control and physics is physics.

Mid engined, perceived safety net of 4WD and ESP, tyres designed for 20c+, urban narrow road etc etc. It's not lack of talent it's just knowing the time and the place.

I blame the ubiquitous PZeros.

A lot of it is tyres. As an example CAR magazine recently had a feature on the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and mentioned that it had a tendency to have rear wheel damage. No mention that the car is delivered on P Zero Corsas - stupid tyre for a 500PS RWD saloon car in the UK.

Agreed, Bob. Somewhere warm it'd make sense. I'll be switching to PS4Ss when my PZeros are done with. The smell of rubber after yesterday's 'blow away the cobwebs' blast round the backroads suggests it won't be too long.

Incidentally, Corsas are the standard fit on my Vantage. Its first owner, a man from Perth, spec'd regular PZeros. Which was, I suppose, the least rubbish option.

LOL don’t recall seeing a V12V up here. Mind we had a guy with a V8 Vantage who was banned for doing something like 140mph on the A90 - made the front page of the papers. Not much happens up here........................

Would be interesting to see if it had PZeros on. Like others have said I think they should be banned in the UK or similar climates. They are seriously dangerous.

Mine in the XJL are not even half worn and I'm considering binning them in favour of some PS4 or PS4S's.

Great for the environment! Maybe I can sell them part worn on Ebay.

Or at least have disclaimers about not using them below say 6 degrees or thereabouts or in winter at all.

Should be clearly labelled with optimum temp limits.

I've never experienced a tyre that goes from hero to zero on a knife edge. It is either A or Z and not much in between IMHO.

Bl00dy health hazards.

Tyres aside, the person was driving like an idiot. As others have said, there is a time and a place - and I doubt London is even that place!

I'm sure H. R. Owen will be pleased to be named in the article too. I suspect they will be rethinking their Supercar Sunday events if this is the press they get.

It's a shame that nice cars are ended by such stupidity, and that 1 persons idiocy ruins it for the rest of us.

Agreed, of course the driver was being a little silly. However I know first hand that you don't actually need be doing too much wrong on PZero's on the wrong road at the wrong temp.

It is almost as if you have just hit some black ice. Weird and slightly unerving feeling. They literally fall off a cliff.

In the dry and 10 degrees plus they seem fine and a decent tyre.

Fella from Saline. He only did a few k miles in it in the year he owned it. At least some of those months it was snowed in - I couldn't collect for a while as his house was inaccessible unless you had a snowmobile, a snowplough or a 4x4 with proper tyres. No climate for PZeros of any kind!

We’re a fortunate bunch in so much as we can consider and buy dream cars.
Reality, means that we really can’t fully enjoy and exploit what we decide to drive on public roads.....technology has surpassed speed limits in the Most basic of cars.
I really think that this forum is full of more mature, sensible (at times) adults who buy Maserati, not because they wanna go **** for leather, but because everyone appreciates it’s not just about that.
Perhaps the brand lurched into mid-life, older age...surpressing these urges...certainly with the V8’s where 30mph up/downshifts felt like you were doing 100.
Pure Magic and very hard to get over when you don’t have one.

Yep the hills there are deceptively high despite being close to Edinburgh.

Nothing to do with tyres, more to do with the fact that the driver had no talent and no brains. Anyone with a modicum of sense drives within their ability and the conditions of the road. Imagine if a mum had been pushing a wheelchair with kid in it exactly where he crashed. He could be up for manslaughter right now.
No sympathy from me I'm afraid.
