Indeed, the trunk light is not working either. But it looks like all the wiring for those go up through the flex tube by the gas struts holding up the lid? If that is the case then it doesn't seem likely that the repair shop did something wrong here (it's just such a suspicious coincidence that it should fail during the repair...)

I believe that is the correct conclusion

A new trunk loom is £40 and will sort you out. I fitted it myself.

Perhaps not so suspicious as in order to do the repair the boot is likely to have been in the open position for much longer than you would normally, which I guess could have been a factor in exposing the fault.
