How often do you change/last your tires?

I've just fitted a fresh set of front Pirellis and the car is transformed.
They were 2013 and still legal but were getting hard.
How much life do you get out of your tires?

P-zeros all round on QP5, 11k miles on my ownership, just over halfway worn all round, looking through bills three tyres changed before my ownership on 98k, I'm on 113k now...

Not bad but it's daily driver for me, mostly motorway, not many starting starts, don't like the P-zeros though, they 'jump' on white lines.....

Do you mean miles or years?

Lets face it, if you only do a couple of thousand miles a year at the weekends, you won't be too keen on chucking your hard earnt cash on new tires every 5 minuets'

I replace qhen the tyre is 5 years old frpm the date of manufacture on the side wall. Paat this vulcanisation makes then too hard and no longer safe.

The Irish NCT (MOT) ages tyres, will fail if over a certain age. Can't remember the ages tho.....

On my 4200 the fronts have done about 10k and rears have still got meat left but i tend not to tear away from a standstill (expensive clutch and associated parts)

I keep them for maximum 5 years from the day of manufacturing although in previous cars I used to wear them within 2 years

So much depends on how the car is stored too.
I'll be buying a new set of tyres this week for mine, to replace the original factory set of Michelin Pilot Supersports that have now worn out, err, ...after 17 years.
Car is stored in the dark, with a nice ambient temp all year round.
No cracking/flat spotting evident and no issue inside either when they where swapped onto FD rims a couple of years ago.
I'm sure new tyres will be an improvement but I've tracked them too and they still stick well far beyond my abilities!
Same story with the tyres on my Stag, simply don't do enough miles to wear them out.

Certainly seems a shame to have a car with the performance some of these have, and skimp on tyres at the end of the day...

I've been looking at my rears (haven't change yet as only 2017), and gather that 285/40 R18 are relatively difficult to find. By comparison 285/30 R18 is easy and cheaper to find.

Could I replace 285/40 R18 with 285/35 R18 ?
