How much for a major service GTS

My 2010 GTS with 18,400 miles is just approaching two years since its last service so is due.

I think it's due for a Major Service so what can I expect to pay ?

Depends what you need. Main dealers run from £1000 for an annual to £1500 for a 2, 6 year then £2500 for a 4, 8 year. The last two prices should include alignment in the price. You should pick and mix what your car needs - depends on what has been done before - and if you are near a good specialist then it will be less dosh.

The car is 2010 and has had 3 services, the first in 2011 was a year early so it's out of sync.
HR owner quoted £3800 (yes £3800) and the girl on the desk could not be sure what was or was not included.

Supercar rooms are very competitive against that price but too far away.

Nuvola - most competitive at £1500 inc VAT for major service
and because I am busy Nareman is sending someone to collect the car - top man !

Sounds good, where does Nareman send the cars nowadays? I know he used to use Giallo or Lancaster?

There are a few threads on here noting service prices and the differences etc...be worth searching them and checking what's included in the one you're being quoted for.

Services for most people are every couple of years. One is a "standard" service. The other is the "standard" service plus a couple of extra items (lambda sensors and an additional engine filter - the "carbon can" IIRC). They alternate on the 2yrly cycle.

The "standard" service can be haggled for around 1k (though the official price is a min of £1,350 I seem to remember). The other is a chunk over £2k typically (and the price for the parts is the largest element of difference).

Your £1.5k is smack in between those so it's either expensive for a "standard" service or very cheap for a bigger one :)

At less frequent intervals there are other things to attend to as well - e.g. spark plugs - which will add to the cost of course.

Would be worth calling Nareman to confirm what will be done for the price quoted so you can compare apples with apples. He's a good guy and I'm sure will be fine letting you know.

A *big* tip here is to ask to supply your own oil. The dealer network is obliged to use the distributor/manufacturer's oil supply and the cost of it is silly. You can source the exact same spec oil, have a litre or two left over (car needs 10l or a bit less and buying 3x 4l packs is often cheapest) and save £100-200. It's worth considering supplying other items/specifying them not to be changed too (e.g. make sure your screen washer tank is full), but oil's the big one.

The other thing to explore is whether they'll throw in an MOT - they often will and that saves you something like £30.

(HR Owen's prices are daft. They were when I was pricing up last September or so. I suspect their location and customer demographic means most people don't even query these costs. Either that or they don't want service business!).

Edited to add...the annual bigbob notes is only really applicable if you do more than 12k miles a year. And the prices I note do not include alignment. I have a place local to me that can do that job for £60.

I probably should have also called the annual a mileage service as well as it works for those doing >12.5k pa but also if people don't want to do the 2, 4, 6, 8 etc year items depending on what cycle they are on with those and whether they feel aux belts only last two years!

Hi - just had my GT-S 2011 3rd service (6-yr) at Colchester Lancaster Maserati for £1258 incl. VAT.
Lots of other small stuff needed attending to, which bumped up the final bill, but the service (excl. sparks) was in the expected value range.

My 2006 QP sport GT is showing service is due on expired time but only done 44k. Plugs changed 2000 miles ago.

I have just bought 2 x 5 litre Helix Ultra 5 40 for £21 each incl free delivery from Euro with weekend discount 30%. Rang Bowker and asked for service quote. They recommend changing the belts (??) as well and quote £1250 reduced to £1000 incl vat. Said I have the oil and reduced to £850.

I think that sounds a good deal.

I have 2 other faults - parking sensor failure and headlights seems to be out of alignment. Any thoughtas to potential costs?

I need to book mine for it's large service pre-Le Mans. It's only done 10200 miles from new so it's very much a time thing and not mileage. Do I really need to spend the extra cash on the major service given the pampered life?

I will get the oil, that's easy enough and it has a BMC filter so no need for an air filter change. What else can I save on?

Graypaul suggested it would be around the £2.5k mark but that was just a tentative conversation and before any haggling or supply of consumables etc.

I'd be tempted to an oil service for c£1k and get them to inspect the aux belts for wear and power steering fluid and coolant for condition.

That sounds like the one with the lambda sensors and carbon can. Get them to confirm that, and if it is tell them you don't want those replaced.

If you supply your own oil you should then be around the 1-1.2k mark

I'm amazed Dealer's will entertain using parts supplied by the customer.
If your engine say started knocking from them putting your oil in it would all get messy.
Euro have been in trouble before over selling counterfeit parts.

I'll get the oil from Opie, I always use them. I can get 10L of Shell Helix for about £60.

Sealed cases only and as above, I only ever buy from Opie.

Main dealer were satisfied about it being genuine.

It saves a fortune for nothing.
