How many versions of the 4.7 V8 do Maserati make?

The answer is three - 430PS, 440PS and 450PS.

Question is what is the point as the figures are all so close? Surely these engines all have a tolerance range of output in any case which confuses matters further with a healthy 440PS engine perhaps putting out more than a below par 450PS one?

They also make two versions of the 4.2 FWIW - 400PS and 405PS. Again why the difference and - more importantly - is there any difference really?

Doubt I would notice 20 bhp on 400+. Would need to be 10%+ for me to tell.

Polished inlets will give you 5 hp temeporarily untill they foul up

I would thnk Maserati will make many more improvements to that engine in their effrts to keep up with the Green Brigade and don't be surprised to see start stop technology creeping into the equation as Ferrari are beginning to do.
