How can I replace the ac clutch?

I smelt some electrical burning type smell last week, but I didn't know if it was coming from the car or was from outside.
Now the AC is blowing warm.
I have checked the fuses and swapped the relay R04 with another similar.
My home ac top up gauge shows sufficient pressure in the system.
The outside ring of the compressor is turning.
The ac clutch does not enage.
The ac clutch turns freely.
AP200 shows AC requested or ECON when the econ switch is pressed.
No HVAC faults persistent (although passenger compartment temp sensor invalid B1908 was present but clears and has not returned)
I applied 12v with a power probe to the relay pin 87 to try to engage the clutch without success.
Does this sound like the AC clutch having burnt out?

I applaud your thoroughness. Does rather sound like it to me. Only potential other test I would do is measure for 12v when AC is requested at the clutch terminal, but otherwise I think you're probably right.

I've managed to do all of the tests so far without having to get the car into the air or take an undertray off. If I can find a clutch kit I might just take the risk. Has ayone changed the AC clutch?

So I've just tried applying 12v directly to the plug on the AC clutch unit. There was no "click" so I'm guessing that I can now buy a replacement clutch kit and fit it to the compressor, without having to replace the whole unit
