Hot hatch choices (Golf vs Hyundai?) for a new daily

If that was a question for me, I like a little bit of variety so didn’t want identical cars! Also I got the cupra at a bargain price and can’t face the slap of not being able to repeat the exercise :D.

Anyway, the M3 sold this week and today I put a deposit on a tried and trusted (but dull for some) 2019 7.5 Golf GTI Performance, manual with 15k miles. I’m strangely excited and will pick up next weekend or the week after depending on when the prep is completed. Fairly basic spec apart from the Performance option but nice 1 owner looked after car it appears. Always like to see dealer cars before prep to get an idea of the life it led, and this seems a good one View attachment 105374

Interesting story selling the M3, within 12 minutes of putting it on Autotrader I had 2 calls from guys pressuring me to sell at a huge discount and they’d give me cash on the same day. Quickly realised that the car was at an age and price that it was attracting the sort of attention I couldn’t get along with and didn’t want turning up at my house. I took down the ad in less than 24 hrs and sold it via Motorway at a very reasonable price for a trade in (very close to where I wanted to get to privately) but without the risk and hassle of dealing with the public. As it was a grade A immaculate car the trader honoured the price I was quoted, paid the cash into my bank account and drove it away. The lesson for me is that I’m no longer cut out for private sales of performance cars. Bit of a shame as I would have loved to sell to an enthusiast directly and handed over a folder of history, but fine for me as happy with the deal and process.

so the 5 door I put a deposit on fell through (promised full VW history never materialised…) so ended up with this 3dr manual GTI Performance. 8k miles, verified full VW history and good nick apart from needing some major paint correction so that I can sleep at nights…105983

Very nice - maybe my favourite colour too.
Leather inside?
Unfortunately not but the tartan is taking me back to my Mk2 roots :D

I know many think the GTI dull but I’m loving how “easy” it is to live with as well as being ready for a burst of fun. 43mpg on my last commute
