Is this the only way to tell whether a car has been in an accident?
I mean beyond the underside, there is no real way to tell if there has been panel damage for example?
You could remove all the boot lining to see if there is evidence inside of any rear end repairs. I had to do this on my QP to fix a water leak and the garage quickly pointed out some ragged (but effective) welding and sealing which showed that the rear end of my QP had been repaired. Then on a closer look I could see where the respray had been (fairly well, but not perfectly) blended back up the C pillar.

When was this Ewan? For what its worth, did it look ‘straight’ to you and us it nice in the flesh?
Last summer. Looked lovely. But I’d buy a (slightly higher mileage, admittedly) GTS version if I were you. Find one for sale privately and drive a hard bargain. It’s a buyers market for that sort of car.

I know. Well FTEC have it the car now for best part of 2 years so that proves how hard these cars are to shift. Heavens knows it took me 5 months to sell a GTS and only one guy viewed!

If it's the one below it was displayed by FTech at Sherborne in 2017 and looked good to me, although I was viewing as a show visitor not as a prospective buyer. Grey on Grey would put me off but that's just personal choice, and in other respects it was a nice looking car with a lot going for it.

Whilst the s is nice I’d be going Gts as some others have mentioned

I think the one you’re looking at is nice btw-
Good luck

That looks lovely. Loving the light interior on it. I would have to change the grill for a GTS one as never liked the Hannibal Lecter grill.....Like you say wheels can be changed. Like it a lot......but....if it was me I would still go Sport GTS as a few has said as would imagine not much in prices these days but you would probably gave to take a few more miles on her which I know you are trying to get one with Lowish miles.

Yes thing is, if I look at high mileage 50k + and I drive for 5 years at 10k mile a year thats pushing 100k miles and I want my cash to do a bit better than that!

These cars are worth peanuts today regardless of mileage. I would expect to write off the entire cost in the next 5 years personally, and it'll still cheaper than buying any reasonable new car.

You make a valid point but I want my next one to be driven for up to 10 years. 30-40k miles would be ideal.

If it's taken a dealer 2 years and it's still not sold I wouldn't hold your breath if you put another 50k on it and try to sell it in a private sale

Buy a GTS now for around £18k and sell it in a decade for around £8k. Compare this to buying an S now for £15k and then selling it 10 years later for £6k. The difference (of about £1k over the ten years) really isn’t worth worrying about. So you may as well buy a GTS in the first place.
