Hi guys and girls

We had an ordeal returning back and at some point some of us were considering staying the night and returning in the morning.
Thank you to a few people (too may to list) for helping us back and also to Mark for keeping the faith and driving with amazing skill to get us on board quickly and safely

Had a great trip and no doubt some people will fill you in soon

Im off to bed

After I left Mark and Dem in Marck, I f*cked off in fine pitch to Dunkirk to chase down a (€142) booking that the nagger made for me for the 8pm ferry. No traffic en-route and despite a d!ck-dance at passport control I even made the 6pm ferry. On board I found out from Miles and Zep that DFDS were swapping bookings from Calais to Dunkirk free of charge which slightly aggrieved me, so I pinned the ears of passenger services back when I got to Dover and they have agreed to refund the €142 I spent on my second ticket. Result! A pretty stressful couple of hours but thanks to everyone for their invaluable help in getting me home on time. I'd have a beer, but I can't face one at the moment!!

Still nothing about the carnage on the BBC UK sites, but French papers are reporting it, saying the migrants were targeting the increased British traffic from Le Mans 24 and Euro 2016.

So pleased Chris and I went Cherbourg-Poole. Glad everyone ended up getting back safely.
And many thanks to Matt and our gite members for making the trip a great one!

Just reading through all of these posts across the threads & it does sound really dicey. And to think that the biggest worry a couple of weeks ago was running out of petrol - if only!
I'm glad you're all home safe and it's sure to live long in the memory for so many reasons!

Got back about an hour ago from Zeebrugge - Hull ferry. Saw the massive queue for the tunnel as we came past, looked horrendous. Rain yesterday was unbelievable with a few focussing moments but a great trip as always.

Yep the rain was Bilblical! I expected to see Noah at one point !

French Road surfaces are a dream in the dry but a nightmare in the wet! The spray from other cars and lorries was horrendous. I saw a Porsche smashed up both ends north of Rouen.

Glad I avoided most of that on the way down here. Was wet in Belgium but headed south at Lille and seemed to skirt it.

Glad you all made it back. It sounded horrendous.

I thought he had retired from the tennis many years ago.

As for the Porsche, did it improve the looks?

That Porsche was a bit of a mess. The two poor sods wrestling with their umbrella in the wind trying to use the phone by the side of the road looked they'd had better days.

Good to be home at last, 28 hours after leaving the gite.

So, south coast ports next year then..?
