Just moving the polytunnels somewhere else to pop my two metal garages in the soon to be vacant space.

Found these that might be an option as modular and customisable in layout. Was thinking of putting 3 together.

Might need painting though but ideal garish white for us at the moment for different reasons.

that looks nasty and not cheap either, find a good chippy who can do better and with a proper pitched roof for less money

looks plenty big enough for 5/6 bay garage/man cave, anything else would be criminal :p
LOL.... currently have 3 in the garage, soon another in a side garage extension where 3rd polytunnel is. Then can have one in stable and 2 in metal garages so 7 total. There will be a plan to add a nice big wooden one as part of future phase! Getting there......slowly.

Issue is I need to do something that will be fairly easy to move, possible resell. Also bizarrely it needs to stand out and look hideously garish.

little known fact but you can buy towable horse field shelters which are on skids and/or wheels and are extremely sturdy well made units, a lot of horsy people use them to overcome planning restrictions, very easily converted to office/garage ;)

Self funding tool chest - a self-contained collection of implements that when used refund their initial cost, possibly more, by competently carrying out rudimentary and advanced mechanical, electrical and electronic tasks whereby 'getting a man in' would cost more.

I thought a few of you have got these.

Damned right!

That looks interesting. Any idea where from?

My other issue is lane access is tight so not sure I'd get anything pre-built up and round my lane.

I could get something over the bushes on the other lower end of the plot but it would need craning over the top from the main road. Possibly expensive and it is a national speed limit along that bottom bit on the lane so would need permission to close road while it is craned over!

Practical but ugly - as you say you could improve the looks with a bit of imagination and paint.

Sounds weird but they are ideal as white, garish and stand out like a sore thumb. Part of strategic planning idea

Is that Aquaponics equipment I can see in that poly tunnel lol , I'd be too scared of the wind taking it and the metal frame work damaging the beauty you put inside it

LOL....no idea on the kit as all my BiL's. I have large ground screw in spikes all round now so it doesn't go anywhere.

The first ground securing kit was too small and one did take off in the Storm a few years back. No change now though!

I don't use them for cars anymore as they get too hot in the height of summer.

My misses sees the garage as a storage facility, no more, no less! However I would like it to become another 'room' or space where I could spend an hour to chill out.

I'm convincing her slowly meanwhile I am looking for a quirky and somewhat comfortable chair. I'm already looking at ex 737 seating and a tan Ghibli seat, both would require mounting onto a solid base of sorts.

I'm lucky enough to have a tandem garage at a push. I had three storage racks in it till I realised that I didn't have any **** to store on them so I got rid of one plus some crappy plastic jobbies. I have a workbench which is useful plus a self-funding tool cabinet. It's in a bit of a mess at the moment but I'll tidy it up next week.
Well I'm unlucky enough to have 146 year old stone garage with wood worm in the roof 'A' frames, leaking walls (from the field at the back of it) dampness coming up through the concrete floor ( previous numpty didnt put damp proofing in when they laid the floor!), cracks in the stone walls and lots of wood/ field mice in the walls....but the good news is, I do have a single light and power socket which works. Conclusion ....knock it down and start again. :mock8:

they're built on site from pre made panels, I think you mentioned having to move it eventually, you could just build it on to a thin concreted slab if for garaging cars or a raised plywood floor if office/storage, as it's on skids (steel or timber) you just tow it to another part of the garden, I've never had to use any as never needed the option to move a building, but good idea for you if looking to move it in one piece at a later, here's one company on the interweb that make them , quite a few on ebay as well

Little improvement today with some vinyl banners! Might end up putting these on the white walls but thought the contrast was nice. Lets see how long the 3M command strips last!

White walls soon to be adorned with some nice automotive prints and car protection measures!

As we have just finalised the plans for our new garage thought i might start updating progress on here. Currently we have a large single garage with electric door perfectly adequate for one car, mini tractor, kids bikes and storage racking but the plan has always been to build something bigger.

Plans drawn up for 10x8m internal ground floor, to provide 4 car spaces, two of these will get ramps fitted at some point. Front access via 2 electric roller doors and side entry door, windows down the garden side with Velux units in the North side facing roof

Upstairs a 10x6m storage room that will have a small kitchenette, shower room and toilet. We might shorten the floor space here to allow a balcony overlooking the cars below. For planning this space is storage / workshop but there is no reason why we can't make it a spare room for when family and guests come over. At the back of the garage will be a plant room / garden store with external access door where the tractor, boiler, well pump, oil tank will be which allows all of these things to be outside the main garage space. The whole place will be heated and insulated and we will probably fit dehumidifier to ensure that the cars remain dry. Internal fit still to be confirmed, but will probably try to get the shell up and water tight this year and then do the interior next.

Planning approval here takes 8 weeks so assuming no issues we should be able to start build in September, fingers crossed.

car viewing balcony surely is a must, good size unit and very handy as a future granny annexe when your kids inherit and turf you out ;)
