Hi all,

Just out of curiosity...
As mine is quite high (my father used it as a daily driver until 2006) what is the highest mileage on the forum?

58494
So around 146k miles

Would be nice also to hear about the "old age ailments" of cars being within a similar range.

Greetings from Luxembourg

Holy sh1t. Never saw that many km in a 3200
Is that a manual or auto?
It's a manual, from '99 number 1107, driving still very nice.
It was standing still for over 10 years and after my father passed I had it serviced in the original garage where he bought it back in '99.
The car was stored directly after an oil change and being connected to a battery conditioner, it started immediately after 4 cranks even with 10 yo fuel in it :D

The garage owner, after the service, was excited like a little kid when he told me the car still drives very, very good.
There is only some noticeable play on the driveshaft (I hope not differential).

Still working on it as dust moulded my interior (stripped it entirely) and the exhaust dampers are rotten away.
So hopefully I can start enjoying it still within this season.

I think they all have play in the differential.
Mine with less that 60k makes a distinctive clunk after declutching sometimes

Just had a check on those for sale on Autoscout. Highest in descending order, 208000km, 185000, 180000,175000,159000, 142000 of 33 cars that are all over 100000kms . Good to see them doing that sort of mileage :)

That's quite normal on some manual cars, most probably left the factory like that, drive line shunt was mentioned lots of times in contemporary road tests

Nothing to worry about!

Dave
My Manual AC suffered shunt when pottering about in towns, not its happiest place, but more than made up for it when out on open twisty roads. :)

Is it a Brit thing this obsession we seem to have with mileage? When my mate was an apprentice mechanic, 1980-84, they looked after a Alfa Romeo Montreal that had 400,000kms on it. The owner was Italian and had a business that was involved with Bulgaria and Romania and used the Monti to drive back there and back via his family home in Italy at least monthly often more.

Cars are there to be enjoyed and driven.
Nobody should “enjoy” them being parked in a garage.
Though driving during winter in Luxembourg I think I pass...

The service manager at Meridian Modena told me about a customer of theirs who daily drove his 3200 with the aim to reach 200k miles. He managed to get it to a little over 160k miles and traded it in for a new Ghibli

Would be interesting to know what had been done to the engine during that time. That’s a mileage that ist truly remarkable.

Well done sir, that is mighty impressive. I know many on here say that these cars need to be driven but that is taking it to a whole new level. My 3200 had managed around 38k miles by the time it left me at 13 years of age and was on it's second set of thrust washers so I do applaud you!

Thank you sir but all credits go to my late father.
I have to check but I think he did an oil change every 10k km. And no clutch operated starting!

Have enough of those here in Luxembourg.
Think all Burgers have shares in rubber if you see them drive
From which part of Luxembourg are you from?
3200 are not very common here although I do see a black one every now and then in the Mamer area
