Cheers Guys, I really do appreciate all your input, like I've said before, I'm not mechanically minded at all,
so I wouldn't of had a clue where to start,
This and this
what I will do is order the solenoid first as they are only £32.00 if that sorts it I'll be happy

Don't really match up ;)

Simpler to tell if the solenoid is screwed. Put in sport. Suction should reduce at the very least from the pipe.

Yes, we meet in real life. We're even worse :D

The others have explained the operation of the valves so I won't labour the point, but just to clarify, as you have an auto, I 'think' it should be:
Start car when cold= loud for a few seconds, then goes quiet as the valves are sucked shut by the vacuum.
In both normal and sport, it will be quiet below 3k rpm
In Sport when giving it welly over 3k RPM, they should open and get louder.

Is it possible that as it only happens over 3k rpm your maybe not hearing the change?

Also, I assume you want to get it working correctly, but if you just want the Sport noise all the time (for now, or to just hear what its like) you can pull the vacuum hoses off the exhaust valves. The valve will be open all the time then for full aural pleasure.
Plug the end of the hoses with a couple of golf Tees so you don't get a vac leak or suck in any rubbish and bob's ya uncle!

Well some good news, I took the car for a good blast last night doing 70mph and doing over 3000rpm pressed the sport button and it did seem like the exhaust was louder so fingers crossed it's sorted, I did spray the actuators with wd40 moved the arms up and down a 100 times so not sure if that's what fixed it, some tell tale signs tell me the car has been sitting around for a while so maybe they were sticking, I also had a problem with the parking sensors so I sprayed them with wd40 (saw this trick on youtube) and they are fine now, since I did this the drivers seat has developed a fault, when I flip the seat forward it does not slide forward now so that's a job for another day.

Just curious, if I disconnect the vacuum hoses and plug them, is this ok to do and leave ? Or will it do some sort of damage long term.

Has the possibility that you have completely lost your sense of hearing and therefore unable to hear anything (w or w/o the valve) occurred to you

That's good it seems to be working now.

And no, as long as you plug the hoses properly, it will not do any harm at all long term.

Just sound really good all the time lol.

Personally, I'd also blank the actuators just to keep the water out too, and every now and then get under the car and work the valves with your hand to prevent them seizing if not being used.

Hi, I am new here as well, and was just reading some posts and saw you talk about the parking sensor, I looked on youtube and was this video from a guy doing it on a BMW ? I have the same issue on my granturismo and want to give it a try :)

Also been seeing a lot of abbreviations on the forum is GT or GTS the one for the granturismo and granturismo sport ?

Thanks all :)

GT is usually Granturismo (4.2 engine).
GTS, GT-S or GT-Sport is usually Granturismo S or Granturismo Sport (4.7 engine)
There is also a QP GT S and probably lots more just to confuse you :as001 (2):

If I’m not mistaken I think because you have the 4.7 with the auto box and the 4 exhausts pressing the sports button does not open / close valves. The valves open alone above a certain RPM.

I know for a fact the GTS/ Sports with the oval exhausts open / close valves with the press of the sports button and the sound does change instantly.

I could be so wrong because I have never owned/ driven your iteration of the Granturismo.

My old QP 4.7S had no valves and quad exhaust tips! A let down considering I bought the 4.7S for the noise

They'll be fine. Mine, on day one of a three-week Eurothrash, developed the most God-awful racket when the valves decided to get stuck part-open. It sounded like a few bolts being shaken around in a tin can. I'm trying to remember for sure what caused it, but what fixed it was whipping off the pipes, bending them double and wrapping them up tight with insulating tape, then also putting some tape over the nipples on the valves as well. Sounded great (especially with the x-pipe).

Took me a year to get around to fixing the problem properly. It was most likely just a sticking valve that needed soaking in lube. We all feel like that sometimes, I suppose.
