My father is astonished that he has outlived her. He’s 6 weeks older than the Queen. He has been telling me about being 2ft from the Queen at a Young Farmers conference at Westminster Hall. She was still a princess then and gave a speech. He said he parked his Vanguard right outside the Houses of Parliament that day.

A sad day for sure

A story I read about her sense of humour
She was out riding at Balmoral with her security officer when they came across an American couple out walking

The Americans asked her if the castle was where the Queen lives

She replied, yes I think it is

Gee have you ever met her

She replied no , pointed at the security officer , but he has

RIP

It's gonna seem very strange without her, and I think the nation will suffer because of her loss.

A little sad in our house tonight now, and even my 5 Yr old daughter just said "daddy, does that say Queen Elizabeth has died on the TV ?"

I have to agree she was a constant in all our lives and always respected her sense of duty and all she did for us to the very end. A great lady who will leave a big hole in our social fabric. I guess it was a blessing the end came so quick and in her beloved Balmoral. RiP.
Charles has some very large shoes to fill.
