Help with car from Ireland

I have a old, low value car to pick up from Ireland, Dublin port.

I don't want to spend all day on the ferry and back, simply pick it up UK side from Holyhead.

Its not road legal but does drive very well and is safe so on and off the ferry no problem.

Any ideas or assistance of how to get it back to the South of England cost effectively?

Suppose what I need is a foot passenger to come back with the car where I will be waiting with my trailer (hire company wont allow be to leave the trailer in the port car park it will get nicked)

Anyone live near Holyhead port?

Current plan is to fly over to Dublin (£50), put it on the ferry (£150), drive it back with the trailer I can hire (£60 trailer, £150 fuel) back to the South Coast but storing the trailer and doing it one day is the issue.

How will it get to Dublin port?

How will you get it off the boat? Some serious ramps on the big ones. You’ll not get on the boat on foot until everyone has disembarked.

Irish Ferries ask least questions ie none, I’ve done this run a lot!

Fly over then walk there. I need to find out if they will allow a car to be put on the boat without the owner travelling with it?

I suspect the answer will be no, like putting bags on a flight with no passenger if you get me!

There’s also Gardaí at Dublin port though to be fair I’ve never been stopped on the way in, only out.

I have done, currently £400 for just the trailer home plus my flight and ferry that £600 and a lot of travel.

I find that some of them are negotiable if you haggle or you may get lucky with some one actually delivering there and coming back with empty trailer and willing to do a deal, the only time I did Ireland was about 4/5 years ago to pick up a mk3 mini cooper s, flew out there, on the ferry across and drove her all the way home to south east, enjoyed every minute of it and the ferry was great, private cabin, cinema, I think I watched sherlock holmes and a great breakfast in the morning.

Thanks but Dan to the rescue. He’s going to pay the cash and accompany the car back on a Friday and where I will be waiting.

I was thinking of doing something similar from Cairnryan to Belfast recently.
Stena were happy to put it on and off the ferry and were asking somewhere between £120 and £150 or about the cost of driving the car on yourself. They give you a reference number to quote, to get access to the terminal.
On the basis that the driver is unlikely to be stopped entering Dublin Port, could the seller not drive the car to the ferry terminal for you?
