Help with a couple of Granturismo Check Engine Codes?

Just posted this over on Maserati Life, but I found my initial info here through googling and thought I'd see if you could help me the rest of the way...

I've got a 2015 Granturismo. I had the check engine light come on, and a quick google search led me to check the gas cap. The cord that the cap hangs on during filling had gotten caught under the cap. Awesome - easy fix.

A few days later the light's still with me. So, I pulled the codes.

One stored code - P0455. This seems like it would have been the gas cap issue. (Anti-evaporation control system leakage error.)

One active code - P050B. Any ideas on this one? It's "ignition advance monitoring."

Seems bizarre that the active code wouldn't be related to the first, since the gas cap wasn't screwed on right when the Check Engine light went on...

Car seems to be running fine. I'm about to leave on vacation, but I can bring it in as soon as I'm back. Thing is, it's a 200+ mile trip, each way. So, if it's serious I wouldn't want to drive it and do damage. And if I can avoid the drive entirely, that'd be great.

Thanks!

I've found out that the code translations are not always entirely accurate. 050B sounds like it might be knock sensors, but not really sure. If it *is* you might want to be careful :(

Thanks for the heads up. I gave the dealership a call, just in case. They tell me that as long as the light is steadily on - not blinking/ flashing - then it's still safe to drive. I asked if they needed me to have it hauled to them, or if they'd be comfortable with me making the 200+ mile drive. They said continued driving is fine.

They also said that these codes are not "Maserati codes" so they can't tell anything from them... Huh? That sounds a little unusual. Thoughts?

So, I've got a vacation coming up next week, once I'm back I'll have to make a point of driving down to the dealer.

Anyone that has any more info for me, it'd be appreciated!

Well as an example, I had a P0158 on my GT. According to everything on the web that's basically voltage too high. However, plug in an SD2 and it's Ambient air temperature failure in the MAF.

According to Roberto there is no lookup table, so although lots of other manufacturers may use 050B to indicate ignition advance, but maybe Maserati use to indicate 'passenger screaming' ;)

I'm sure some are used in the 'normal' way, for example I know the misfire I had due to coilpacks on the 4200 was a 'standard' code, but which ones are standard I have no idea.

Does that make sense?

I had the petrol cap issue on my QP (my fault totally). Anyway I reset it with a little gizmo I have and it never came back.
So you could try a diagnostic reset of your own and if the fault comes back then it will need better investigation, however it may stay reset and that may save you a trip to the dealer................................
