Help with 4200 front Brake Discs

Hello all,

Not been on here for a while, I was out in the 4200 GT the other day blowing away the cobwebs ;) and noticed a slight vibration through the front brakes, my local mechanic says the front discs are slightly warped which is a shame as they only have about 5000 miles on them and they seemed fine the end of last year before she went into storage, they are not genuine Maserati, think they are Pagid ones.

I heard rumors that some brake discs were available through Sports Maserati, if not I will have to splash out on some from Scuderia Parts

I have never braked really hard to warp them, I expect as they are Pagid they are not of the highest quality ?

Any input would be most appreciated :D

Check front and rear faces of all your disks for rust if it has been sitting for months. The rust may have built up between the pads and disks.

Yeah...mechanics who diagnose expensive solutions without looking at the car- d4mn thats clever !!
He's guessing- Doesnt mean he's not right but its not the cheapest guess to replace discs is it ?
Clean them..You could get them skimmed if they really are that new, they'd be fine. Often mobile techs will come to you and do it on the car...?
Probably just need a good cleaning/service as they rust like sh1te as George has said. They dont warp by magic. Dont worry !

If they are above minimum thickness they may just want a light refacing either on or off the car.
As already stated it's probably just a bit of corrosion.

I had vibration under braking on my QP. On inspection, a significant contributing factor was warping. They have been skimmed and the vibration much reduced.

Where are you geographically, I have a set which I can split at cost if you are desperate.

They may be pagid pads, but not discs, the only discs that are available for these cars are Maserati oem, or sports maserati forum discs which are Apec, as others have said, could be corrosion

Sports Italia may have some forum sets available... I dropped off a full set with them in Sept.

There were some other disks being touted by NeilSurreyLabs. It is always possible it is these and there is no knowing how they age.

Thanks for all the replies, there is definitely no rust on the discs, they look in really good condition apart from being warped, Pagid pads were fitted, had these changed to Brembo as they squeaked like crazy, but now I have this warping problem ! I may just get some from Scuderia Parts as they seem cheaper than some used ones I have seen

I seriously doubt they are warped, certainly not from being laid up, however if put away after washing or just damp the corrosion where the pads sat would take a while longer to go than the rest of the disks, I had some lumps on mine last year after some brake stick in the garage, took a few hundred miles to clear, it was on the back on mine.

How much runout did you find on the disks?
