Hello, I am writing with the hope that somebody can help me to find the solution to my problem, I own a maserati gran turismo 2011 which for a few months has presented me with a transmission problem after driving it for about 30 min. It does not change to third gear, I connect a scanner and I get the P1782 code that indicates that the clutch closing is higher than the maximum threshold, I hope you could guide me to solve this problem since I have not found much information about it, below I attach the image that appears in the car, greetings

First thing is always make sure voltage is solid as I get gearbox warning lights if it's off the trickle charger for too long and not driven. Can usually tell if the battery is drained by how it turns over. Secondly make sure that you allow the gearbox to prime before turning over. key, ignition, wait for the bleep (about 10 seconds), then start.
By the looks of it though, having a code it's most likely worn clutch or you need your PIS setting changed. Former is pricey, latter isn't a big job, just need someone with the dealer computer.

Lot of other people on here with far more knowledge than me though.

What he said, particularly the bit about checking wear as it sounds like you have got a worn one.

I’m hoping mine is just voltage-related. It definitely started when I changed the battery to a 100ah 830a Bosch, any idea why though!? My positive terminal clamp / connector is worn so I might start with replacing that.. (when I say worn, I mean the square bolt head is slipping)

I had the same faults show up on mine and a new battery did the trick. Failing that, as Catman has said, it is most likely an ABS sensor/hub issue.

I would certainly double check your terminal connections as it looks like it's fully clamped on that pic. Can you rotate the clamp itself on the terminal? If so, it's not tight enough.

Problem is, it’s just had a new battery - that’s when it started… I’ll look into ABS sensor - thanks @CatmanV2

It is fairly common in recent years for new batteries to occasionally turn up knackered, due to being bashed about in shipping.

Is it running flat at all?

Yes, as others it's worth checking the battery is still good. And that terminal is very much worth some rectification. But if that fails.....

No, it’s been perfect. Much better (obviously) than the previous insufficient 77ah 760a one..
I’ll get it tested with a printout but it looked well packaged (loads of styrofoam packaging and a decent box) and arrived in an undamaged box.

Missed this Sam, sorry.
Yes I can rotate the clamp, I think (& hope!) that’s all the problem is.

Still getting all sorts of errors come up every other time I drive, they always disappear after 20 mins of driving. I’m going to dedicate some time to sorting the terminal clamp tomorrow.

Yeah looking at your pic, it seems the clamp is fully tight, (yellow circle) but there is still a gap at the terminal (green circle).
So either your clampnis stretched, or your new battery's terminals are slightly smaller than the original.
It may not be your problem, but as you said it all started after a battery change, I'd definitely start there.

Ok, so. Got a new larger square bolt & nut to stop it spinning and allow it to full tighten.
Looking good as after driving away (2mins) the lights all disappear, that’s the quickest they’ve gone out after driving, as I said before it usually takes 15-20 mins at least.
Next day, start it up and the lights are back (what a s**t feeling…), but deep down I’m hoping the car is just confused or keeping those bad memories somehow lol.
Turned the ignition on last night and no warning lights :) turned it on this morning and again no warning lights:) hopefully this has solved the issue and I’ll never have to even touch the battery again!

[Update] another day and another 100+ miles and no warning lights.

My car is throwing the same code. Did fixing the terminal fix your problem?
Also does your car have the F-1 gearbox?
