Hi, I have a 2007 granturismo. I went into the garage and got into the car and tried to start it. The battery seems to be dead but I am now stuck in the car and can't get out. Neither door handle will open the door.

Turn everything off and wait a bit (5mins) then see if the unlock button will work then try the door handle.

Thanks, that worked, eventually got the passenger door open. Not a pleasant experience.

Alternatively someone with your spare key could manually unlock the door from the outside.

Great.

Experience with TVRs has taught me that mechanical door locks and handles are underrated.

Sorry but I find this kind of experience/episode less than funny...!
Maserati should be embarrassed that it is possible TBH !
Has anyone expired , trapped in their cars yet..? Amateur hour

Yeah was fortunate enough to have my phone but unfortunately there was no one at home to grab the spare key so I panicked a bit. Anyway new battery ordered up.

Yeah I might look into one of the battery tenders although the car would get used most days. Not sure what killed the battery as I have used the car all week with no issues. Didn't seem to be anything left on and the door opened ok but when it cranked it, it just started clicking so went to get out and nothing. Hopefully the new battery sorts it.

When was the last time you changed it? A battery should last around five years no matter which brand you bought.

CTEK are good if you want to plug it in and forget but a Lidl special is good for a 24 hours charge. Sometimes the CTEK's give up on batteries that can be restored to life.

I would say, from experience, that the battery lasts about half that Martin...in a QP or GT.

They are power freaks!

I'm not sure when the battery was changed, I will see if I can see a date when I change it. It's an RAC battery so guessing it was fitted during the last failure. I bought the car in May.

I just bought a couple of RAC chargers too...two because they are cheap and cheerful. I appreciate you dont want this kind of thing happening again, and a cheap tender might not give you the peace of mind you desire...but they seem fine. Connect and forget
Sounds as though the battery was beyond the electrickery of a CTek recovery anyway !
