Hello all. I've only just acquired my 4200 CC -- 2005. and there's a few things that don't work .. not a surprise I guess.
The current thing Id like to fix - is the cabin /glove box release of the Rear lock.
I've checked and found the following :-
The rear solenoid functions if I apply direct 12 Volts -- it pulls and releases with-out problems.
Both sets of cables are plugged in inside the Trunk lid.
The switch in the glove box - has power when the ignition is in the acc position - and goes away ( as it should) when the ignition is on
the fuel hatch release switch works fine.
The earth ( black wire in the multi plug) is good ( in the glove box)
when pressed the button in the glove box connects power to the green wire - so I presume its sending the "activate" message

But still nothing - is there a switch in the release mechanism in the boot lid.. hence two sets of wires -- ?

I presume the solenoid in the lid isn't fed with constant power? -- correct ?
is there a relay somewhere?

thanks in advance

Have you checked for 12v at the rear solenoid? Could be a broken wire in the boot jam.

There's two pairs of wires.
One pair thicker than the other pair.
How should I check for 12 volts in the boot? Other than use a meter lol.
Is the solenoid permanently fed? And "triggered"
What are the two pairs for?
Could do with measuring one that's working .. compare a good one with my not so good one.

Get someone to press the button and see if you get 12v to the solenoid.

Trace the cables back through the flexi tube to the boot and check there. Pounds to pence there will be a break in the flexitube.

It's really not complex. I had a thread somewhere about adding a remove release to my old 4200 Classico. I don't recall there being four cables, but it was a while back

I'll check that out tomorrow.
If one pair is the activation for the solenoid.
I'll need an assistant.
What is the smaller pair for?
The boot open for the driveres display ?

Might well be, although that would be an odd way to do it. But it's Italian

Found it.. as described.. broken wire in the flexi
Also suspect the small wires are the open lid sensor. Because..1 it was showing safe whrnbtge lid is open. 2 there's a second broken wire
