Hello......My hunt has begun..

Hi everyone - just thought i would drop a quick note to say hi....

My recent obsession/fascination with the Granturismo has led me to this wonderful forum.....I am largely familiar with the fast end German marques (Porsches, Mercs, bmws etc...) and their ranges so it took me a fair bit to get my head around the Maserati/Granturismo ranges/options and what was sought after with the Maseratis/Granturismos.....I think i have my heart set on an MC despite the potential clutch costs but not sure if it would be too harsh for me if i just want to toodle along...

Colours.....I absolutely love the special order Fuji white but i think it may be out of my budget and they are limited (I believe??); which got me thinking, could you wrap the car in something similiar?

Anything particular i should be looking out for with regards to the interior options? If its dark car, I do not mind a light interior but I am not a fan of the part beige/cream dashboard to match the seats.....

I am budgeting around 35k? Will this get me into a decent car? Haven't been look at them enough to see what prices have done or how frequently they come up.....

Will keep you posted with how my hunt goes....

Certainly you can get a nice 4.7 MC Shift for £35k. But Fuji white is unlikely. Think black or grey and your choice will open up nicely.

Welcome to the forum. Some lovely cars at 35k at the moment. If you like the brighter colours there are a couple of red ones around your price on Auto Trader......Lots bought black or the greys when new so for me always good to see the Reds.

Phil on here is selling his black car which is well sorted and well under your budget.

There are some good forum cars available for that price and plenty of others online too.... Happy hunting.

Hey ya guys just joined inn.

How about The Audi A3 which outranks the Mercedes-Benz CLA. It has a more accommodating back seat (Mercedes calls the 4-door CLA a coupe, after all) and a slightly more grown-up demeanor. Indeed, the A3 doesn't feel like a lesser Audi, just a smaller one. You could hunt it below 35K

I cant quite see the relevance to the op?

Thanks for your replies guys (including the odd one about getting an Audi A3 ??)

Silly question but I do not see many forum cars available in the classified section or am i looking in the wrong place? would be great to see Phil's (?) car?

If you contact Phil direct - his forum name is Contigo - he will furnish you with the details.

Other places to look would be Richard Grace who I have felt with recently myself and have only good things to say about. I know he has a blue GTS on SOR right now.

As for Audi A3's, perhaps you should consider comparing them back to back with a GTS and see which you prefer! :yeah:

My friend.............No, sorry; colleague has just bought a RS3. He has just had it remapped, wears a baseball cap whilst driving it and listens to his music loud with the windows down...................Nough said!!
PS. He also wears Oakleys on the top of his head, definitely not a friend!

One of these pulled into the car park at the gym a couple of weeks ago - I am pretty sure he saw my smirk!

Buy it in any colour then vinyl wrap it!
...Baddabing for about an extra 1500 quid you have the car in whatever colour you want and it acts as insurance on your paint work against scratches :)

So just wanted to get people's thoughts on an idea.....haven't fully thought this through so forgive the shortcomings.....

As I am priced out a Fuji White - what are people's thought on getting any colour and getting it wrapped? replicated as closely as possible (dark/carbon side skirts & rear spoiler although will have to figure out how to get that done if the rear spoiler/boot is one piece- have i got that right?? )

Thoughts?

I considered wrapping my previous XKR French Racing Blue, but bottled out.
You get what you pay for. It's quite a skill keeping those blades the wrappers use away from your pristine paintwork. Don't pay less than £1500.
Many argue that a wrap will protect paintwork however you need to be certain your paintwork is 100% original otherwise paintwork will be damaged when the wrap is removed. My old Jag had a, albeit very good, bumper and bonnet respray, so I decided against a wrap.

Welcome
If you can find a red one I'd go for that. They look amazing in red and stand out from the usual black/grey ones, not wanting to upset anyone with one of those but the stand out colours are the ones to go for in my opinion. MC can be driven hard or you can plod along even in sport mode.
Happy hunting.
