This all started because of a cheap chrome inside a headlight, but in order to keep the colour and highlights right I've gone and dechromed the car so that all the highlights are matching. It is all low risk since the chrome parts are either badges or polished stainless steel, so it would be easy to put it back to chrome if I don't like the results, but so far I like where it is going.

Far be it from me to be the arbiter of sartorial elegance, however, a recent (-ish, '13, cough) YouGov poll found the following:

I wasn't planning on it, the chromed red is a special paint - its almost like a tint. You build it up to get it darker and it takes on the characteristic of what is under it, so to get the brake calipers to have the same effect would be a fair bit or work, and the paint on my calipers is in very good condition.

Sure sure, you're testing to see how mad I really am...

Quite mad evidently. A mechanic who is helping me out introduced me to a friend of his as 'eccentric'. I can't even argue against it...

lambertius, did you get new headlight gaskets? Reason I as is because mine don’t fit as well as they use to.
